Half the time that happens to me it's because I lost connection to my relays when I made the post and my app doesn't automatically broadcast my notes when I reconnect to them.

See the first one is entirely down to earth and probably true (though more because they had better education/culture than technology) and the second one is just totally out there.

I don't disagree that we're lacking things which the past had, but those things aren't magical aether technology. They are simple, directly observable thing that our rulers have intentionally deprived us of.

When you repost a note you broadcast it to all your relays. IDK but I think replys work the same way. On some clients you can also broadcast other people's notes to all your relays directly.

Veal is still cruel. Apparently the reason is basically that just it's easier than killing them humanely right before you cook them, and their meat goes bad quick.
