For me it's outright theft of ad revenue and I will never support its use. I'm not up to date on all this but I would support Google suing Brave over this.
Where is the banner stored in nostr? kind-0?
FDroid is already very niche. I want our average non-technical friends to easily discover nostr. I want nostr to replace Twitter.
That feature still is sold as doing something good while it deprives websites of their ad revenue while not even sparing the client the nuisance of ads.
By replacing other ads instead of just slapping their ads on top, they make it palatable for the users but it's disgusting.
I find Brave very shady, not only for their shitcoinery. Didn't they inject their own ads, replacing other ads?
If it's the viruses ... can we have an images-only anon hoster? Viruses hiding in gif, png and jpg are kind of manageable. Zip-bombs, every other year some niche vulnerabilities, ...
Well, it's still something we'll have to deal with: How do we get nostr clients delivered to the less technical users. Has anybody ever tested Astral on Internet Explorer? #[2]? If FF flags a free image hoster, it will also flag all nostr apps. And so will Chrome and Safari. Seriously, what's our plan here?
I've been working on a progressive web app client as Play- and AppStore will require deplatforming but PWA is Chromium-only and pre-compiled chromiums will also block us.
Ok, void.cat is flagged as dangerous in Firefox. I assume it's about as dangerous as nostr itself?
Please, check it out.
I want this to clearly be a load control mechanism. Therefore I want to be less restrictive when load is low. For example, connections and query executions should be completely unbound for the only connected client regardless of authentication but when running at 90% of any resource, relay should drop oldest non-authed users and reject non-authed users.

#[0] this event I'm replying to had a lightning button without a lightning symbol. Hovering showed it but it did nothing.
To say a million times that money doesn't exist doesn't make it so. Fiat is stacked against most of the world population but it very much exists in that having it or not has very real impact on people's living condition. Even Bitcoiners outside El Salvador need fiat all the time.
How can we work together?! I'd like to get this started on my relay ASAP. As a first step I want to advance login - [client authentication to the relay](https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/141). The relay should give very minimal resources to non-authed clients.
Referral spam can also be annoying, with lots of plebs falling for it until they learn not to do it. Often referral spam is done because people genuinely like a product. And then there is the stupid chain mail stuff - help this kid in need by re-sharing this sob story ...

Mr. Hodl this was for you.
My approach as mentioned above: Being followed by paying users **is** a reputation metric.
#[7]
This but:
* To charge each user 8ct/month is overkill. The hassle of paying is more expensive than 8ct.
* Usually 1% of the users is fine with paying way more than others. Charge these users $8/month.
* They pay for all their follows.
