Stripping back the potential click-bait on this - FUD or no-FUD - the ability to manipulate and influence (if not control) is a logical inevitability, it’s how markets evolve…no? Question is would this be to the detriment of the Asset (#Bitcoin), its decentralised values, or both?
From “systemic risk” to “systemic control” - is ultimately the direction of travel - especially if you look at other avenues being pursued.
Take CBDC’s for example - despite all the purporting to provide greater choice; flexibility in payments; security etc. and:
“Any future laws on a digital pound would guarantee users’ privacy and also guarantee that neither the Bank of England nor the Government would be able to control how you spend your money.” Source: BoE website.
It feels a little disingenuous to say the least; and that ‘they’ think all are naive enough to believe these assertions. Unfortunately - I do think many are - so not sure what the answer is, other than to hope that decentralised technologies outpace the governing bodies…which is very possible.
