"It worries me that no large entity/influencer has talked about this in any meaningful detail."
I regularly get DMs from random bitcoiners asking about nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl FUD & the dynamics around cold storage tool development.

I was helping a friend setup a SeedSigner from scratch and ran into a show stopper. None of his webcams would scan the QR code. Admittedly, this usually sucks a bit no matter what, but he had multiple cams that simply would not scan. And they weren't the cheapest cams either. We had to bail at that point. There was simply no other path forward that I could find.
I found myself wishing there was some alternative way to sign. SD card transfer seemed like the most obvious alternative, but that doesn't seem to be an option on SS.
We considered buying more cams, but that isn't really a good solution considering what I think is the target audience for these devices.
We also considered buying an actual laser USB scanner and using a mobile wallet (but he wants to use desktop and doesn't really want to deal with a new device).
I'm right back at wanting to use an SD card. Is this possible or technically feasible right now?
Did you attempt to adjust the brightness of the SeedSigner’s screen? (up/down when QR codes are displayed)
Used to work a lot with the feds and agree that "it depends". An interesting aspect of this is that the legal threshold to obtain metadata is sometimes lower (requiring an administrative subpoena) while the standard for actual content is higher (requiring a warrant supported by probable cause). And sometimes the former can strongly support the latter.
I’m sorry, my message came off as pretty douchey towards you. Some of the people in that list have been pretty nasty to me personally over the last six months, and IMHO are not as wonderful you may think they are. I've had a peek behind the curtain, and some of it really isn't pretty. But if you speak publicly about things you've observed, conflicts of interest, etc. you'll be accused of creating drama, labeled a "bad faith actor" (whatever that means) and they'll encourage others to treat you as a persona non grata. They're #1 concern is that the money keeps flowing, though they'll constantly signal otherwise that it's all about freedom, open source, "staying humble", etc.
This is exactly why I've been less interested in using Nostr -- the influencer cults are everywhere and the OpenSats/Ten31/Primal cabal does all they can to channel as many new users into the cult, resulting in this kind of cringe stuff. 🤮 nostr:note1fe5hc4jm0z4d2et4jeekyj0zkanyqa8wpj55v9p9kez3tvsm6u8qp5zx6d

I will sometimes ask it to explain things to me like I'm a 3rd grader. 😬
I don't think he ever released an album but...

Bitcoin industry != Bitcoin community
This is a nuanced, but important distinction b/c incentives matter -- you are much more likely to hear about the value of the nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl project via the latter, whereas the former is more concerned with realizing some kind of financial benefit from selling (or referring you to) a product.
Bitcoin product != Bitcoin project
I get why this is a thing, but it really doesn’t seem ideal. nostr:note1els7tdznutruwfchlg69w0a0jngfpp5vd5gznhgvaex9gyvhcm9qd6s2k8
