Neom is kinda like if the dude who only has a TV, a Playstation, and a recliner for furniture were tasked with designing a city.

Custom UI for Windows? Written in #RustLang??? github.com/eythaann/Seelen-UI

If you're willing to use a generative model for your article's illustration, why should I trust you didn't use one for your article's text?

nostr:npub1vcl9kcqwwsk536z8s4h6k48qrfkm7mahzrk5mz0v04j94507d20s6hk6t3 I've been vaguely thinking about LinkedIn Premium just to see how it benefits me platform-wise, but I'm not on the job hunt.

If you're willing to share, how are you finding it?

nostr:npub18c7wjmr8txk9u3xzrxl5rsx8mpt4dr84nyluufn4qg4x9xnar52qller9d Yeah so for me, as a business owner and (gag) brand promoter, it's useful as hell. The insights I get about engagement are super valuable.

Not for nothing, but also pretty handy for OSINT work.

Super cool that paying for LinkedIn Premium means I now have an unavoidable AI suggestion box on every damn post.

Well, that's why we have uBlock Origin custom rules I guess.

Saw this meme on Threads but felt it belonged here with us nerds.

Tired: "You're a very gifted student. This should be easy for you."

Wired: "Your brain works differently from a lot of other kids. That means you can do very well at some things, but struggle with others that seem easy for your peers. But it's okay! We'll learn how these work for you together."

Hey, before you run that poll, just remember you're running it on Selection Bias: The App.

Ah, felt great to be streamin' again. Missed it.

But it does speak to my functional programmer heart.

Hey nostr:npub1rn2y9m58jg6a3jf8pk8fafu4auumhp00x0f6gw6gacxqv5mpxh2sycggwn, thanks for continuing to maintain RSS feeds! Now, please stop blocking FreshRSS User-Agent strings. That can't be a major source of scraping for you, but would mean the world to some of us.

nostr:npub1r3n08ljcwy5smnd8wvpl999ky4tyjnckplu492dl59egnpmr6m6svtqv63 I understand the economics of newspapers, thanks.

I still don't enjoy having the one I pay for put charlatans above the fold.

This...seems like a very big deal? And quite concerning. https://proton.me/blog/online-safety-bill-encryption

Look corpo stuff is nasty, but I still recommend giving your non tech-savvy family members Chromebooks if you're concerned about constant family tech support.

But you know what they _arent't_ immune to? Malvertising pop-ups with fake security alerts. So if you give your people a Chromebook, make sure uBlock Origin is installed on it too. And even then, you make sure they know to never call a phone number about a security alert.

nostr:npub1vcl9kcqwwsk536z8s4h6k48qrfkm7mahzrk5mz0v04j94507d20s6hk6t3 I'm sure my employer was significantly involved but I think Stanford and Brown were more directly involved with ARPANet and WWW, respectively.

I know it's not your location but still

Well that sucks. The company behind Libby/Overdrive has been acquired by the same group that gutted Toys R Us: https://karawynn.substack.com/p/the-coming-enshittification-of-public-libraries

This is exceptional bad news for libraries, which already strain against corpo nonsense to deliver digital materials.

Periodic reminder that oil companies knew about the effects of atmospheric CO2 in the 50s, researched it deeply, knew what would happen, and kept right on polluting.

And lied about knowing the consequences.

These aren't companies so much as existential threats to humanity that would rather watch billions die than stop the profit stream.
