“International Women's Day - we still need it. Not in a fluffy mix of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day, but as a boost for the road ahead.”
“International Women's Day is a holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement. It gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.Spurred by the universal female suffrage movement, IWD originated from labor movements in North America and Europe during the early 20th century.
In August 1910, Inspired in part by the American socialists, German delegates Clara Zetkin, Käte Duncker, Paula Thiede, and others proposed the establishment of an annual "Women's Day"…The 100 delegates, representing 17 countries, agreed with the idea as a strategy to promote equal rights, including women's suffrage.
The following year, on March 19, 1911, the first International Women's Day was marked by over a million people in Austria-Hungary, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. In Austria-Hungary alone, there were 300 demonstrations, with women parading on the Ringstrasse in Vienna, carrying banners honoring the martyrs of the Paris Commune.”

Its crucial to highlight that the ruling by the French court is a major advancement for women's independence and freedom. It is traumatising that our ability to vote can be limited by government policies and extremist religious ideologies. The motivations for seeking an abortion are grave , including factors like strong relationship issues and sexual/assault, age, health worries, etc. I acknowledge religious viewpoints and hope for more open dialogue to foster mutual respect, as the right to autonomy over one's body is essential.

I've just fallen asleep on the beach in the bright evening sun (after 36 hours awake and detours due to the union strike in Berlin, 😮💨)
Madeira has an enormous number of micro-climatic zones because of 3 mountains about 1800 m high, I learned today. It always seems to be a bit milder and sunnier in Funchal.
