Just outside for now.
Over the long weekend we set up our biogas generator from Homebiogas.
It is the Homebiogas 4.0 model. It has a 700 gallon digestion chamber and holds 317 gallons of biogas. There is 325 pounds of sand on top to pressurize the gas, which will be used for cooking initially.
I just added 50 gallons of pig manure slurry today to activate it.
Making pig manure slurry is one of those tasks you want to keep your mouth closed for!
The main feedstock will be pig manure. The effluent will be gravity fed to composing worm beds.
The one eye opening thing for me is the gas production. According to the manual it can make 7.5 kWh of energy per day, so it would take 2 1/2 weeks to produce the amount of energy in one 20 lb propane tank. Fossil fuels embody so much energy!

These breathable bags work great to put on top of the food and bedding in your worm bin.

That creek is about 3 minutes north of our place.
Some kids memorize better through movement, especially the younger kids.
My wife made these sticks for the kids to randomly pick actions to perform while repeating memory work.
Interestingly, they memorize better with cross- body movements, like cross-punches across their bodies.

Bookmarks for the parents of 4 and 5 year olds in my son's homeschool group.
We follow a classical model of education with three phases: Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric.
The 4 and 5 year olds are working on the Grammar phase with its 5 Core Habits.

Making memory cards for preschoolers.
They are designed for pre-readers to assist them in memorizing the history sentences.
There is a song that goes along with the cards.

Proof-of-homeschool-dad: Cutting out a map of the states in the United States for the homeschooling group, to help out my wife who is the tutor.
The kids will memorize the states and capitals this year. Tomorrow is the first day they meet.

I'm getting the wood from cleaning out my tree lines right now....
If this gets going I can work something with the town to drop off debris since right now they collect them and pay to dispose of them.
Once I make it big I have all sorts of dreams on cool things to do... but first we need to sell some!
I'm a big believer in ideas from "The lean startup": If you are not embarrassed by some aspect of your product when you first shipped, you waited too long.
Do things, make mistakes, learn and iterate.
I'm looking to launch some of my soil amendments for sale on Amazon, starting with charged biochar.
I'm looking for opinions or constructive criticism on these label designs.
The white labels are prototypes. I'm planning on a brown craft paper. I'm also going to have a QR code to my website for further info.
Thanks in advance for any opinions! I appreciate it.

Our church started our local fellowship groups back up after the lockdowns ended.
My wife and I get the same feeling you do... these will be how we meet in the not too distant future.

Obesity as a Spiritual Problem, the Vice of Gluttony?
There's a lot of talk of the "obesity epidemic" and this is often discussed in scientific terms, about "counting calories" to lose weight, or fad weight loss diets (which can work), or just "exercising more and eating less"
But I've thought from time to time that maybe this is more of a spiritual problem of the sin of gluttony, and as such it may not be as easily solved by self-will and discipline, but by the grace of God through people undergoing holy fasts for the good of soul and body
What do you think about the spiritual dimension of the "obesity epidemic", or the traditional idea of the sin of gluttony?
Catholic encyclopedia on gluttony: https://www.newadvent.org/cathen/06590a.htm
Aquinas on gluttony: https://www.newadvent.org/summa/3148.htm

While there is the issue of sin of gluttony through overeating or stress eating, the thing the Lord has opened my eyes to is regarding our bodies as temples and treating them as such. See 1 Corinthians 6:19.
What this means for our family is a high fat (the food of priests in the OT) high protein, low (or no) carb diet. Limited or no processed foods. My wife and I collectively are down 60 lbs in 3 months.
This has eliminated cravings quite honestly and for a good portion of that 90 days we were going for 18 hour intermittent fasting.
Eating good, natural food as God intended has naturally taken us away from overeating garbage food. Obviously we are not perfect every day, but the effects even in our failures from time to time have been awesome and more than we have hoped or achieved through calorie counting efforts.
I've been reading Fertility from the Ocean Deep over the past few days.
Right in the beginning of the book they discuss something that has reminded me of the struggle for truth in our world these past few years.
We have probably all learned about Louis Pasteur in school... how he discovered germs and that they contaminate everything and how we need to kill them to make our food safe.
Well... I didn't know also at that time was a guy by the name Antoine Beauchamp who argued that micro organisms in natural foods are an important component of what we eat and necessary for health.
But the majority and the policy went to Pasteur and we ended up with did that had "food" that had been made devoid of life and dead soils in our quest to "purify" everything. Microorganisms are necessary for life.
I was also thinking of the parallels for command vs. market economies. It's about man wanting central control vs. nature and God's system design and plans.

I ended up using a website to transfer BTC to the Lightning network... it worked great. The site is on this thread somewhere.
I think NY State has special rules about exchanges to purchase crypto. I was trying to use the exchanges but the exchanges that can handle crypto in NY don't do Lightning.
NY claims to want to protect the consumer.... I guess they forgot about their lotto machines.
