The point of a badge is to be special or have some rarity. Or to be non fungible 🤣🤣.
Even if it is used in a legit way for reputation, contribution, etc it still makes more sense to have it be immutable. And they dont have to be traded.

Oh ok so you think theyre a waste of time? People talk about badges as if they have been a thing eslewhere, which i think they have, and that people like them. But they will perfectly match with ordinals whether we like it or not.

From my understanding;
Anyone can create badges and award them to anyone.
Only the awardee can choose to accept them.
Once awarded or accepted they cannot be transferred elsewhere. Think of them as like a tattoo.

Im not saying theres anything bad about it necessarily. But you literally just described NFTs utilities. And utilities is what people are saying is whats missing from ordinals. And I think you just made it.
Maybe I don't understand badges, but this "first" feels very NFT. And you know this is going to get paired with ordinals.
