Lyn, when you offer your unique and well educated perspective on topics related to economics, I feel inspired, engaged, and fascinated because my needs for clarity, understanding and learning are met on a very deep level. Thank you for all your contributions, you're wonderful.
I'm still unclear as to what a zapathon is exactly
GM my brother.
What's with pura vida? Some kinda brand? Or are we just speaking Spanish for funsies?

GM Nostriches! Happy my birthday to all of you!
Please send a link Kid, would love to be a fly on this wall
Pairs well with both sativa and indica, I suggest a blue dream spliff as you press play, and good company elevates the experience
Dude get a small canvas and some brushes and paint and try to keep up, no pausing, no replays, it's such a blast.
It's oddly nerve-wracking and incredibly relaxing and uplifting at the same time. As you're struggling to get your first tree in while he completes his 4th one you feel like you're failing and then he says something like "look how incredible you are. Did you know you had that kind of power?"
The Ross paradox.
I love it.
I would prefer a longer interval as my home fees gets a bit bloaty but otherwise 👌
Apple banning Damus is as bullish for Nostr as China banning mining was for Bitcoin.
I got into Bitcoin as a direct result of China's ban. I had been on the sidelines since 2017 smugly telling everyone that when the government decided the party was over, it was over. I didn't really get it. Then the ban, and I started to watch very closely. What persuaded me was not as much what I saw, but what I didn't see. I didn't see the system crash, I didn't see panic, I didn't see people stop using it, I didn't see any Bitcoiner give up, I didn't see a single instant of down time.
It was such a non-event that I started to get really excited about the possibilities, and I started to read. Then I realized that these weren't mere possibilities, many of them were realities, and many more were virtually assured certainties (some have since become realities as well).
Nostr cannot be stopped by the likes of Apple any more than Bitcoin can be stopped by the likes of China. And I know the surface level argument is that it's just the zaps and then just on notes and bla bla bla. But it's not. It's the first assault on Nostr from the mainstream, and it's a sneaky ambush dressed in rhetoric. China said the mining ban was due to environmental concerns. It wasn’t. The truth behind the rhetoric is that they're scared. They're scared of you. You degenerate, unruly, ungovernable children of the Cypherpunks. And they should be.
So, nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s, don't be a martyr. Look to your own interests. Martyrdom is already upon you whether you would choose it or not. But we are not cannibals, we do not require your sacrifice. Nostr and all its Nostriches have benefited massively from your work, we are incredibly grateful, and most of us, recognizing the cowardly assault on our citadel, will likely stand behind you to the bitter end. But Nostr is here. The can is open, the worms…everywhere, and just as Bitcoin doesn't need Satoshi to survive, and it doesn’t need Muun or BlueWallet to survive, Nostr doesn't need Will or fiatjaff or any particular person anymore, and it doesn’t need Damus or Amethyst or any particular client to survive.
The lesson in letting sleeping ostriches lie starts now. Pay attention.

Felicidades! Que emocionante ver una iniciativa tan valiosa dar frutos. Bien hecho, sigan así!
In that sense I think A and B are basically the same thing. Hard fork
Yea but that's the same as 0.000001% of miners "forcing" a change. They aren't "forcing" anything. There is no "force" in Bitcoin. Only choice. You can chose to run different rules, and it doesn't matter if you control 1% or 50% or 90% of the hashrate. The Bitcoin network will ignore you and proceed undeterred.
No amount of miners trying to force anything will ever make my node accept anything other than. 21M
I challenge #2.
A 51% attack only gives an attacker a chance (a 51% chance, or however much of the hashrate they control) to double spend their own coins, it does not give the attacker any increased ability to change consensus rules.
In fact, changing the consensus rules as a 51% attacker would immediately render your 51% advantage moot, as you would be excluded from the network by the other 49% of participants.
Request for comments on my pull request for NIP-52: Calendar Events. It’ll enable developers to build calendar apps, meetup apps, and conference apps upon the same primitives. It’s my first NIP — welcoming any and all feedback. Man I gotta tell you, I couldn't code "hello world" if my life depended on it, so I'm not sure why such a technical announcement sounds so freaking exciting to such a layman but, yes. Just.. yes my dude. Great job.
