The grass has slowed down with the lack of rain but the trees are still growing strong. I bought the sheep a little more time in this paddock by breaking the out of reach branches down to where the sheep could eat them. They devoured this mulberry.

Another full load of strawberries in the Bitcoin mining dehydrator and I was able to get out and pick more right away. The strawberries are starting to slow down so I might get one or two more good pickings.

The chicken wire that's attached to the woven wire fence to keep them in is bent at the bottom and extends about a foot to the inside of the fence. So they have to dig a tunnel to get out. I'm not sure if that's why they don't dig out or if its just big enough that they don't need more space for their territory. We haven't had any issues with the rabbits escaping or predators so far after more than 2 years of keeping them this way.

Thanks for the zap! Made my day! We keep the rabbits in the colony all winter, we try to harvest all rabbits except the breeding stock by the end of November. They don't breed much over the winter and the numbers stay low. Very low input system, we are working on getting more detailed numbers on how much we spend on supplemental feed each year for meat the system yeilds. We are working on some ways to make harvesting the rabbits faster as well as getting more plants to survive in the system amongst the rabbits. There still plenty of room for improvement.

Even the slightest protruding leaf of the cannabis plants gets quickly nibbled away by the rabbits. Soon the plants will be tall enough to spread branches out higher than the reach of the rabbits. We are going to have to start harvesting rabbits soon by the look of the numbers in the colony. The older males will start fighting for territory and that's when we know it's time.

I like the looks of that garden! I can see chipmunks causing problems, they seem to thrive in back yards. I think the combination of our dog and the high number of plants they can't eat them all here if they can make it past the dog.

The sheep started this pass on May 17th and are on track to be back where they started in 45 days. If the weather is good, the next loop around should be a little longer because I'll start feeding them more trees. For now, the sheep and pastures are looking good. Going give them another check up next week to weigh lambs and check worm load.

Picking more strawberries before dinner

I've been weeding the apple tree nursery while I pick and it's starting look a little less unruly, seems to time out well with the growth of the weeds. This has been a great year for strawberries so far. They seem to be much sweeter than last year. We've been eating so many we haven't had enough for another batch in the dehydrator. I think there will be enough to run it if I pick again tomorrow morning.

The cannabis is showing it's sex, so it's time to pull the males in the rabbit colony cannabis garden and replace them with females from the cold frame. The top image can be identified as a female by the presence of the pistols emerging from the pre-flower at the stem. The lower image is and example of a male with the lack of pistols on the pre-flower.

Check out the worms hanging out in the soil after digging up one of the male cannabis plants to be replaced in the garden.

The cannabis has a long way to grow before harvest, I look forward to taking a break and enjoying a mullein spliff while watching the plants grow as season goes on.

Lamb loin roast with carrots, radish, garlic scapes and sour dough garlic bread.

The heating coil will still be an option. I will be able to set the dryer to tumble if I only need medium heat. And the miner will do all the work. If I need more heat I can supplement with the heating coil.

I'm going to pipe the air directly into the dryer. Just have to find the time to cut the hole now that I'm confident the ducting is good on the miner.

Spotted two White Tail Bucks at the edge of the pasture

Even though the hunting pressure is high in my area there always seems to be plenty of deer around but I rarely see bucks especially two together. Wish I had a longer lens to capture the size of the racks. They looked very nice and symmetrical on both.
