People do find the meetup via meetup website. Honestly, I spend a lot of time telling local people about it and following up with them every month until they finally come. That and putting it on blast on Nostr (Twitter before) and talking about it on podcasts. Shout outs/boosts on podcasts also works well. It's a long grind to find regulars. Just gave to keep reminding folks the meetup exists and eventually new people come.
It's wildly variable but anywhere from 6 to 20 people. Lately attendence has been increasing.
If it's your first time attending a SWMI meetup you get a free sats card.
I thought I was all good, woke up tested the sink in my mud room. Water flowing, great. Go on with my morning, come back, no water... Got the Bitcoin miner clothes dryer warming things back up now. Hopefully the pipes don't break it the meantime!
Zaping @piez is like a leveraged strategy to zap all the best Bitcoin podcasts around.
I will eventually plug some logs around the homestead. Would be awesome to pay for the stuff with Bitcoin! Probably won't be anywhere near ready for another year or so anyway.
Do you sell stuff to plug logs?
I spent a couple days in Bisbee long ago. Cool town. Definitely off the beaten path.
One year ago I recorded a podcast with nostr:npub1jcympy69pht7ptan39se4nd09e4q66qhey649uu3rczm2zh88c7s0n2890 talking permaculture and bitcoin in general.

This clip is a good summary of my high level thoughts on Permaculture and Bitcoin and was basically the ideal I was working towards throughout the year.

The podcast as a whole provides a good reference point for a lot of what has happened on the homestead over the last year. I'm not sure why I thought to detail so many of my plans for the year, maybe hold myself accountable. All in all, I was able to accomplish almost everything I mentioned throughout the podcast in the last year. Take a listen and check out this year in review mega note.
February was defined by maple syrup production, the threads aren't as cohesive as I was still learning Nostr and developing my style.

May was the sweet spot of sunlight and waning colder temperatures which lead to lots of pleb mining at the homestead. The solar power was flowing and the dehydrator was constantly loaded. The cold frame was growing cannabis and the portable S9 space heater was saving lambs from hypothermia.

A year in review mega note. There was so much going on at the homestead this year, I couldn't recap it all, but these are some of the best notes throughout the year all in one place.
My favorite day of the month! This Thursday is the SWMI bitcoin meetup. Come for excellent discussion, drinks, and a variety of high quality goods like dairy products and coffee. If you have something to sell, bring it along!

I really loved participating in the 2nd 24hr nostr:npub1svc42r2de9sadr7anh7lmdhmt2mnvehnsaawkdrggmj5x73c28aq62a9g9 with @npub15u3cqhx6vuj3rywg0ph5mfv009lxja6cyvqn2jagaydukq6zmjwqex05r nostr:npub1jk9h2jsa8hjmtm9qlcca942473gnyhuynz5rmgve0dlu6hpeazxqc3lqz7 and nostr:npub1jzuma368395gu523y4vk4d34p0lxgctk436hggn4qcuj93075qgqtn3vm0. This conversation was great because I was simply just talking with friends. We covered Bitcoin mining, Nostr marketing, 8 forms of capital and more. A lot of great information packed into less than an hour recording. I think morning is a good time for me. The caffeine was certainly pumping!
I can relate to Eustace Conway, I definitely think anyone can do what I'm doing, and I hope to inspire everyone to try. I think there is great lessons in doing things yourself and learning to do them the "hard way" at first. I look up to people like Eustace, I saw a video about him and turtle Island years before starting on my homestead journey and thought to myself, theres no way I'll ever be on that level. However, while I may never be as skilled or accomplished as Eustace, I will always continue building capital, especially in the form of intellectual and experiencial. It's always surprising to me how much of a compounding effect continuously learning and applying knowledge has on building further skills and knowledge. I think many who walk the pioneering path of Bitcoin and further seeking sovereignty in a society addicted to convenience and central authority deal with similar feelings as Eustace. It can be a lonely isolated world, surrounded by people with seemingly nothing worth talking about. Surrounded by a culture that just doesn't make sense. Unlike Eustace who will likely never find the culture he is searching for and striving to create (because in some ways he is too many generations ahead of his time) we as bitcoiners have the opportunity to build what we seek. The divide isn't so large and challenging to cross that those who can find their way will do so alone. We can build a culture and a system which isn't so far outside of "reality" that only an accomplished minority can grok but one that is waiting with open doors for those who find us as the squeeze gets harder and harder. I recently listened to the audio book, One Straw Revolution, by Masanobu Fukuoka. Both Fukuoka and Eustace have a similar message at the root, a life lived in harmony with nature reveals truths that cannot be witnessed any other way. I think that both Permaculture and Bitcoin help us who have been poisoned by a life detached from nature find a path towards harmony and thus unveiling these truths that cannot be known otherwise. We have the antidote to fiat but as Eustace shows the only cure is hard fucking work.
I would just look at a bunch of different plans to get a general idea of different techniques then either pick one that best suited my needs or come up with my own design based on available materials/tools, budget, difficulty ect.
For example, I have a bunch of free round wood poles I could use to build a shed but the difficulty and my lack of experience might not be worth it vs building with lumber from the hardware store that I'm already familiar with even though the cost would be more for materials.
The Tokyo Citadel Podcast recording I did weeks ago is finally released and it's an absolute banger! The amount of ground we cover in this podcast is astonishing. Bitcoin and Permaculture together are the antidote for the most extractive system in the world, fiat money. By using systems modeled after nature we can build capital for future generations creating an ultimately resilient culture. I go deep on how I use Bitcoin and Permaculture to exit the system and hopefully offer inspiration for how you can do the same. If we can't end fiat today at least we can opt out.
nostr:npub1cl42c2k2j7zw2upef2c2qjpd7sz7ks0r5nkvjag7k86q8zev8l0qwmgf39 podcast has quickly become one of the few podcasts I look forward to each release. nostr:npub1tqwfm20g9pxzd70f8w8cnphsl8u28ydl0kkqpmhnk3pc2spuz5us9j2jhh is facilitates excellent discussions and the rest of the crew together get me thinking deeper about whatever subject they are discussing.

Food is a byproduct of living a life integrated with nature.
When prices are denominated in Bitcoin.
Heating with wood isn't free, but it's worth it to me. Sometimes I enjoy the process, sometimes it's a pain in the ass... This year, I've been lucky. It's been warm and good network conditions to heat with Bitcoin miners. I'm in SW Michigan. Now zone 6 according to the new climate zone map.
A snow storm is coming, outstanding chores must be done

Since I spent most of the day before fiddling with the tractor I didn't get any of the chores knocked off my list. Started the day off with an unsuccessful magic tractor dance, put on the battery charger and fired up the 95 Chevy to move another months worth of firewood to the house. 2 is one; 1 is none.

By now the tractor was willing to start so I insulated the chicken coop with some straw. The storm is supposed to be windy so a little wind break will help the chickens stay comfortable. When the storm passes, the straw will be spread out to form a fresh bed of carbon in their paddock.

The last of the chores were getting the next hay bale into position for the horses and topping the sheep off with hay too. I wanted to move and stack the remaining hay bales but the tractor troubles continue... It seems like too much moisture got into the dashboard and caused a short, which lead to a small electrical fire... At this point I had enough and will see what I can come up with to keep the tractor functional another day.

Never heard of those miners. What kind of j/the do they get?
