A low-fi audiozine that puts the punk back in cypherpunk.

TIL you can download mp3 directly from wavlake, just like the good old days! It's kinda odd, most streaming services will do chunk encoding of some sort.

I tape music I play so I don't care to much.

I spot checked a few bitrates though and it seems low, like 188kpbs but sampled at 44100.

This is a cassette magazine from the UK called Next Wave. It's basically a subscription mix tape of new music.

I really do like what wavlake and fountain are doing but here's the thing: music goes into your ears analog at the end of the signal chain.

The physical aspect of this media, with the booklet really adds value to the experience.

Here's how I would do it v4v. This booklet would contain bolt12 qr codes for each artist and qr codes for npubs. We keep the subscription cost low (lower than next wave) and let listeners zap the artists directly.

I was super excited to go to pick up this cassette in the post.

Anyway, it was a long week for me and it's a Friday night post so I'm not sure how I will feel about this in the morning. I just want physical music but in the v4v model somehow.

GN y'all! Keep nostr punk 🤘

By my count, there are 47 new cassette releases just _today_ on bandcamp.

Is there any interest from the nostrverse for the cassette of the second issue of bitpunk.fm? Especially if you are not going to Nashville.

I was planning on making 30 for BTC Nashville. Contributors get a copy of course. But I'm wondering if I should save some / make a bit more.

It will otherwise be available from the RSS feed digitally.

Alright, nice day of recording. I think I've got the analog encryption article in the bag.

After only 1 week with the trumpet I have a publishable poem-set-to-smooth-bossa-nova. I might punch in and fix one line, but it's otherwise done.

Last bit will be a surprise cashu-based experiment, but I should have that tomorrow.

Then, lots of little surprises :) This issue is coming together!

These guy have some sick cassette art. I think it's my favorite so far. It's Italian chiptune from the band Master Boot Record.

French marigolds, bitcoin colors. #bloomstr

Of the two controls to loose, that is objectively the worst. 🤣

I think perhaps the people here have a higher degree of posting vs just consuming, which makes it feel different. It's like YouTube in the early days when the video quality was bad but more authentic. Now, at least IG and YT feel to me if it's not 4k SLR quality people don't post they just scroll.

That's just me though. I like the one on the left 😀

About creators and zaps…

Firstly, I’ve been involved in music for a while but the world I inhabit is in decline.

So I started experimenting with streaming, it’s a bit haphazard, learning the tech in public, sourcing appropriate equipment, repairs etc. mean I’m not at the quality I want to be. I need to stabilise streams and settle into a regular routine.

Little technical bugs suck, for example I streamed for an hour the other day but was unaware it actually stopped broadcasting after 20 minutes. I’d gone from 20 listeners to zero and left feeling that what I’m doing it total shit! (I accept in many ways it is but it will improve I promise). Still, some set backs are to be expected.

Getting zapped 1000 sats is quite exciting in the moment. Receiving an instant payment for something feels fantastic, especially after years of dibbled money from Spotify etc. where the royalties appear mystical in their accounting.

Wavlake is cool, to get some sats the moment someone digs what you’ve done is satisfying but again it’s a hell of a way off being something meaningful. I appreciate anyone who zaps though! If the user base were bigger it could be a decent income stream.

To scale up to anything near to covering costs is going to be difficult. It’s seems like a similar position to the devs in many ways.

To be constantly doing promo on a small platform will seem like spam to many and it’s not something I’ve ever been keen on to be completely honest.

V4V can be quite brutal, I actually dig the concept a lot but also walking up thinking well my total value as a human is £1 can be quite depressing.

Fortunately I still have income studio engineering and a little teaching. I know I’m rambling but this is just where my head is at.

I need to bring in more income but I’m unsure what I should do. Normality never suited me.

Idk, it's only spam if that's all you are doing. But you are not you are interacting and participating and being a part of the community. So I wouldn't feel to bad about sharing. Especially to this crowd.

GM, Nostriches! How's your morning? Here it's beautiful and hot. But me and my dear nostr:npub1mu6e6ty69f3vp5tj333tesz5v64tksyj0gep5a6skg5qqznhdjzqmtzflr are almost out of this awful sinuses/throat illness and kids are at grandma's until Sunday, so it's basically heaven. I even installed Skyrim back on our xbox and might get few hours, yay!👀😀

I'm memorizing songs for Saturday's koncert with Libý Květoň (it's beautiful name and hardly translatable). I'm leading them in August without usual lead singer, so panic is about to hit soon. But first, this Sat near Austrian borders in Suchdol nad Lužnicí (also not translatable😀)

Anyway Prague's Tuzex band will start working on my own song tomorrow with some electric guitars to redo and spice it up, the original basic take has nostr:npub1f49twdlzlw667r74jz6t06xxlemd8gp2j7g77l76easpl8jsltvqvlzpez ready for Nashville. I'm happy, the guitar riff reminds me of flowing water, the song will be sweet and slow, but with the electricity it sounds way different. Will share once it's done!

I hope you guys have a great day. I'm off to have lunch with my pet vexler😆🤌 nostr:npub1nct4ycfkxssv7lxclxj56erdryw80dd0cqwmgzhz5mj22w338fgqts303f, whom you've seen hyping on BTC Prague for three days in a row. He'll teach me about onchain and Phoenix and maybe own node. Idk, honestly I'm keeping this guy as a barrier between dumb me and smart everything.😆😅

Stay humble and fuck the system🧡💜

Can't wait to hear the new version!

Ah yeah, nice job. I appreciated how you tie things back to the definition of anarchy and how groups just have different definitions of this concept.

I have this piece coming out in 2 weeks where I take some historical government propaganda audio and make it instead about the evils of statism. I think you'd like it.

My latest piece for the Mises Institute -- shitting on _The Economist_, praising anarchy, and quoting nostr:npub1jt97tpsul3fp8hvf7zn0vzzysmu9umcrel4hpgflg4vnsytyxwuqt8la9y.

Yea, it's that kind of day:

"In his slam-dunk _Bitcoin: Everything Divided by 21 Million_, Swedish author Knut Svanholm hits on exactly that very Austrian point: 'Economics only applies to scarce goods. Things in abundance are free because their supply greatly exceeds the demand. The air you breathe is an example of such goods.'

With that Sex Pistols title, I'm going to read this!
