Now you know why those little f***ers hurt so bad when they pass. Excellent photo. Hope this wasn't inspired by first hand experience @Lopp

@Stuart Bowman .... This is what i was talking about. Hit post, then nothing. Hit post again and you get repeat messaging. Bartholomew be patient he is aware of the bug. He'll be fixing it.

This got deleted by my fat finger on Satellite.earth

Think of auto-correct as a little elf in your phone that really, really wants to be helpful. But in reality, it's actually quite drunk!

I'm not satisfied with that answer either. This time think about it another way. IRS knows you have digital assets and how much and at what cost basis. If you reported your crypto as prescribed by IRS codes and law, then as you dispose of any or aquire any, you must account for it on first in first out basis. Right now these micro payments are roughly 3000 Satoshi's to the dollar. Meaning 69 SATs zapped is a fraction over 2 pennies if my math is right. Now transport yourself 10 years into the future where BTC is $3,000,000 each. Now satoshi's are 100 x more valuable than today. That same micro-transaction is worth $2.50. Satoshi's are going to be 30 to the dollar. In the eyes of the IRS a few thousand satoshi's here and there as up to real money and they want their cut.

The peer to peer aspect is irrelevant. It's property. It's either acquired or disposed of for goods, services, other property, securities, shit coins, staking for interest, or fiat. In my understanding, all those tax are events.

Begging the question: with inevitable collapse of fiat in all nations states how will BTC be priced? All things priced in Satoshi's is fine in concept, but is there a standard against which it can be compared? Or is it that BTC is the standard and even things like gold will be priced in Satoshi's per gram?

You've been busy I see. Well done. Can hardly wait to see what your next update does to functionally. Looking forward to the DM feature. Also- I'll be a broken record with the request to get your constellation back up and running to hook users.

On another note, I have used Amethyst & Astral and wanted you to know that Satellite loads much faster than those two. Don't know if that's a thing or not, but I don't like waiting for the feeds to render on those other two.

The dude is coding his ass off 12+ hours a day 6 days a week-- flying solo. The site used to be based on torrent technology that was elegant and had full functionally. Then along came Nostr. He unplugged almost everything that made satellite.earth what it was, just to pivot to this protocol. Don't bail out on this too soon, it will be back to absolute brilliance as fast as he can make it happen. He was at Nostrica and won the whole enchilada at the hackathon. Keep spreading the word. This will be a super-client soon. He's flippin' brilliant.

Chungus- Is Anaconda your first ever programming language you have done? I can't imagine that you technophile types here don't know more than a little something of software coding. Is that bad conjecture on my part?

In my lifetime I never learned a single coding language. At this point is it even possible for old dogs to learn programming? I'm not an idiot; even if I ask some dumb questions. It would be nice to understand what I'm reading if handed some code. Even better yet, it'd be fun to help contribute to a project. I suspect it's like learning a foreign language.

I'm just musing and should probably stay in my lane and stick to what I'm good at.

Too many people have given Elon a pass. Don't give him a pass.

He's a marketer, not a founder or an engineer. He didn't found PayPal or Tesla; he bought into them early. He's good at selling narratives and equity valuation for perpetually unprofitable companies.

Everything for him is a narrative. His green revolution was a narrative to sell more cars and get more subsidies. His bitcoin purchase was to gain appeal among bitcoin/crypto people in a bull market. And he shilled doge like a dumbass. His SpaceX narrative is to get money from the government.

His rooftop solar thing was an outright scam; the technology isn't ready and went nowhere because of that. His full-self-driving-in-an-intermediate-term timeline was a scam, and is going nowhere because of that. He makes scams to draw people and capital in, because for him it's all about narratives and equity valuation.

And then he dug unproductive holes, suggested unproductive hyper-tubes, built meme flamethrowers, for what? It's a narrative, not a business. None of this is real productive shit to make peoples' lives better.

His latest "we need free speech" narrative was a scam too. He tapped into something real, which is what marketers do and why it kind of worked. Yes, we need free speech. Yes, Twitter had censorship issues. He saw that and jumped on it maliciously rather than productively.

But what did he replace it with? He replaced it with arbitrary journalist censorship about his private jet, arbitrary censorship of Substack, selective Twitter Files release, won't talk seriously about any of his China connections because Xi Jinping fucking owns him economically there like Jack Ma, has his balls firmly in his grasp, etc.

Elon's playing the narrative, the anti-woke meme of the day. He's a master meme-momentum-player. Don't fall for it.

Lyn - I don't know who said it earlier, but I have to agree that you are SAVAGE! ... And totally right once again. I appreciate your continued hard work and insights. I hope you stick to it for quite a while.

It's the age old theme of good vs evil. Let's hope good wins out before it goes kinetic. I think I know who the protagonists are. We need to avoid mutually assured destruction. Our heroes better be damn smart and thoroughly prepared for the battles to come.

I get that this is somehow a joke/satire, but for us luddites... WTF is EOSE?

This is is a succinct post describing what you discussed with me a few weeks ago. I see better now what the vision is.

Now how do you take this vision and integrate it so there can be a level of monetization that's going to sustain what Satellite is trying to do as a super client?

When you plug in Lightning for the purpose of monetizing the efforts of contributors and the separation of bots from humans and sustaining the Satellite client -- you'll have created a thing of function and beauty. Does that sound accurate?

You may consider contacting Jeff Booth and Egodeath capital with your ideas on how to make this scale for the world.

Ok we’ll take this one step at a time, a url is simply a web address like

www.yahoo.com, www.google.com, or www.twitter.com.

Every web page has a URL address, and every link you click on that webpage has a different address (url), even the photo on your Twitter account.

So if you wanted to make your pfp the same picture as your twitter picture you could grab that url and copy it… I did that in the first video…

Once you have that copied, you can paste that url in the pfp section of you profile, second video.

Note that I’m using safari on an iPhone to get to urls.

https://nostr.build/p/nb4601.mov

https://nostr.build/p/nb4602.mov

This is just 1 way to do it, but if you do it this way you are dependent on Elon to continue hosting (storing) that picture for you. if Elon ever decides to take your profile away for any reason, he’ll stop hosting your picture on his site, and you’ll have to find a different host for your picture.

In general,iIf you can see the picture on the public internet then it has a url that you can copy and use.. a google drive is password protected so it’s not public. If you had pictures hosted on a public host where anyone can see it, then those could work.

Hope this helps.

Now that's what I'm talking about!!.... Gonna go try it. If successful, you'll get to see the ding-a-ling boomer who needed the baby steps! Hope i don't need the pull ups anytime soon! I will remember you and zap you for being diligent with three help. When it comes time to do that, you'll need my first ever zap. Sound like a plan?

Anyone up for giving me a tutorial on how to post a profile picture here on Satellite? Stuart is little busy.

Please take into account I'm a non tech newby with zero coding ability. I'm your basic dummy. Talk to me like I'm a 5th grader... Step by step. I won't forget your kindness and I'll make sure you get my first ever zaps when i get that lightning thing solved.

Thank you. It looks like it will be doable. I have some back end work to do on my multi-sig first. That should be squared away next week and I'll start participating in this economy of what I call Zapdom. If all goes to plan I can be operational by mid month. I'm looking forward to supporting content creators. I have an angel investor heart and resources to exercise it. I'm about to have some real fun with this.

You probably have no idea how blessed you are to have a self directed passion that gives you pleasure and the rest of us in the world-- real value. So few people get to go to work and absolutely love the job they are doing and actually get to say how fun the hard work is. It's rarified air my friend. It's good to know you. I'm pleased that you help instill some optimism in my perma-bear pessimistic world view. Men like you give me hope for the future.
