The one "functionality" that it offers is that you can't be fucked with.

The one key pair than unlocks your notes and content across the whole ecosystem is a gamechanger. Concept probably as hard to grasp as #bitcoin itself.

I think, first, we have to translate to the normies what a key pair is

I remember a really smart guy who used to say, "functionality, not technology"

I think a lot of people don't get that about #Nostr

You're approaching it all wrong if you're stressing the "protocol, not platform" and "censorship-resistant" aspects

That's technology. No one gives a damn

The functionality is simple: "one keypair, everything Nostr, with Bitcoin"

I don’t think any of those things sell.

I always said nostr wins when we have great apps that solve problems or fulfill one of many needs people currently use other apps to fulfill.

All those other things are nice extras - though super important.

Needs positive messaging such as social app protocol, portability, owning identity and data.

I genuinely need coffee ☕️ 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

That realization was what turned on the light for me in January of this year. I’d been on nostr before but didn’t really “get it”

Imo nostr:

1. Got labeled under “crypto” in the tech world.

2. Is not an escape Elon destination like blue sky

3. Is not positioned well (censorship resistant) though that’s a really strong quality - people just don’t care)

4. Is not doing a good job to cater to groups of people jumping here

5. Is not catering to younger audiences - old people building apps for old people (yes I’m considering myself old here) - not saying it’s bad

6. Doesn’t have anything obvious going for it - it’s not actually the case but to an outside observer - they can’t tell what we’re excited about.

7. Is still hard to find things on

8. Lacks content

Doesn’t help that all of this also requires people abandoning their network - which almost never happens, hence need for more interesting use cases or join-as-a-group UX.

Not saying all the things I listed are bad either. There’s clearly something very important and very interesting happening here or we wouldn’t be here.

Agreed. Also wonder if it would pick up quicker if it were video first like all other socials
