Recently, after a decade of work, Blockstream finally launched Simplicity on their Liquid federation

It’s the Rust of Bitcoin scripting languages, designed to enable secure smart contracts without the quirks & issues of Ethereum’s Solidity.

But did it launch too late?

Find out more about Simplicity and how it compares with Solidity in my latest podcast episode – featuring Blockstream’s head of research Andrew Poelstra!

You were right, I didn’t get to ask too many questions and he left after 90 minutes while I was just getting started 😂

Lightning’s receiver privacy is horrible, reveals information about your node.

I’d rather receive Zcash, to be honest.

Nothing humbles you harder than the free market.

Will interview Blockstream head of research Andrew Poelstra in about 14 hours.

Also famous for refining MimbleWimble, proposing that it gets added to Bitcoin on an Extension Block (as Litecoin did), experimenting with OP_CAT & advocating for activation.

What should I ask him?

The 10 commandments of Bitcoin Maximalism.

1. Do nothing, really. Bitcoin is already perfect, so why bother? Stack sats and wait for the day you’re a fiat billionaire.

2. Post some price charts, make bold predictions about flipping gold by next year.

3. Troll the skeptics to death, even if they’re right. Don’t admit any flaw – when in doubt, refer to commandment one.

4. Slay your idols. Well, except for the high priests who get a free pass for shitcoining. They are cool, at least until Mr. Hodl or Giacomo tells you that they’re not.

5. Anyone who uses the Bitcoin codebase to build anything without the blessing of Blockstream is a shitcoiner who deserves to get slain.

6. Liquid is a sidechain and Lightning is the one true way to scale Bitcoin. Anyone claiming otherwise is a shitcoiner who deserves to get slain.

7. Ethereum is a bigger enemy than bankers, politicians & spooks infiltrated within the community. Make fun of Ethereum at least 3 times a week, then praise JP Morgan, the Trump family and BlackRock for being such bitcoin bulls. If you discover that they buy ethereum too, refer to commandment no. 4!

8. The community is decentralized and diverse, so nobody speaks for Bitcoin except for Greg Maxwell and 3 other guys who can effectively shut down initiatives to improve the project. You think Bitcoin needs improvements? Refer to commandment no. 1!

9. If you came to Bitcoin in 2017 or later, you’re a pleb and you will always be a pleb. Be happy about it pleb, embrace the name and never question your OG overlords.

10. It is always better to be a pleb who posts memes and “mines fiat”. What do you mean you want Bitcoin to scale to 8 billion people? Don’t you like custodial lightning? Refer to commandment no. 1 and repent, or else you’re a shitcoiner.

What you call a shitcoin, I call free open source software

What you see as a speculative investment, I see as Linux, VLC, Audacity, Wordpress, OBS & GIMP

If you’re creative enough and can think for yourself, everything is a tool.

But sure, there are plenty of guys who open beer bottles with the Philips screwdriver and pretend they will never need anything else.

Ironically, Litecoin is the best and most popular implementation of the Bitcoin whitepaper.

Wherever it’s accepted for payments, it’s a top choice.

And all of this happened organically, in spite of all the FUD & hatred from bitcoiners who pushed Lightning.

I’m living a nice and wholesome life

I wake up every morning without setting any alarm and do what I love all day long

But I’m still pissed off that I joined a revolution that never happened

Everything we used to say that would happen with Bitcoin went down the drain

Now it’s a stonk, just an instrument to speculate on in hopes of making more US dollars

It didn’t progress towards becoming a currency that competes with the dollar

It didn’t progress technically to encourage freedom fighters around the world to use it

Outside of making more dollars, there’s nothing that it does that other networks do better

It doesn’t have a killer use case anymore

The user experience sucks compared to fintech

All we have is hope that the ship will eventually turn around

But even the OGs who joined for ideological reasons seem to be selling

So who remains to defend the principles of the early days?

Who will still want to end the Fed when the Fed is making you more US dollars?

I don’t even see my friends around anymore, they either turned into insufferable suits or else they left the space

It’s depressing, really. This is not what many of us signed up for and I feel deceived

I spent nearly a decade promoting Bitcoin as freedom tech, but now the FBI is allegedly happier when their targets use bitcoin instead of cash (as suggested by Peter Thiel)

I feel sorry for some of the people I onboarded, who used custodial Lightning wallets that probably rugged them

I sometimes feel like a fraud who pushed false advertisement

But ultimately, I wish more bitcoiners demanded a change. Anything that lets developers build cool stuff and new use cases.

CTV, CAT, BIP300, I don’t even care at this point. Just push the boundaries, make Bitcoin technologically exciting again.

The bankers might fuck us, the old cypherpunks might sell out, but at least give the rest of us some cool toys to play with.

But no, “there’s no consensus”

Fuxking bullshit

What Satoshi meant by digital gold:

it’s scarce and you mine it

What the cult of Saylor turned digital gold into:

it’s slow & expensive to move around, banks must hold it and intermediate transactions

Hi nostr:npub1cjw49ftnxene9wdxujz3tp7zspp0kf862cjud4nm3j2usag6eg2smwj2rh

I know you blocked me on the Elon app, but it seems like this Australian gentleman claims he paid the money he owes after the lawsuit with you

Just wanted to check if it’s true.

Some new people followed me this past week

Probably thanks to my edgy notes

My podcast is pretty blasphemous too – so why don’t you subscribe?

Been told that it’s super underrated and honestly I’m a bit tired of hearing that – I want it to be properly rated, with all sorts of opinions being expressed about it

It won’t make you feel reassured that your investment thesis is right

It will probably break your bubble of comfort

But ultimately it will put you on the right path to think for yourself and stop following braindead sellout morons who act like they speak from a position of knowing what’s going on – including myself

Just a stolen meme, don’t take it too seriously.

But in 2021 I still remember talking about replacing the dollar within my bubble.

I was running a Lightnin node. I was routing transactions. I was hopeful and foolish.

S16 E34 of the Bitcoin Takeover podcast features Dr. Richard Werner

Economist who wrote bestselling book “Princes of the Yen”, and also came up with the term “quantitative easing”.

He talks about his understanding of Bitcoin, the expected outcome of the Big Beautiful Bill in the US, CBDCs, the vaccine agenda & more.

Will publish in ~3 hours, I’m still editing 😇

Met this guy in a hotel lobby and he told me he likes peer to peer electronic cash that brings more economic freedom to the world

So I gave him a copy of the “Bitcoin: Year One” comic book, hope he will read it

Thanks Layer Two Labs for sponsoring the print!

PS: hit me up if you want a copy of “Bitcoin: Year One”. Michael Saylor received one too, there is no second best!

It hurts to admit

But the Supra Cycle price model was defeated

Too bearish, but still more accurate than anything Balaji, Mow, or Novogratz predicted

I’ve talked with guys from Flexa and Bitrefill in private. Also, the CEO of SideShift was on my podcast and explained why his business delisted Lightning 2 years ago.

Life is like a box of bitcoins

You never get it.

Gish by the Smashing Pumpkins is such an amazing album 💿

Probably one of the best debut records of the 1990s.

“Do what you’re gonna do and say what you’re gonna say. Yeah, start today!”

Heh, yeah there’s a painting that you can also see in my podcast background
