If you think product design is about the color of the paint, I’m not sure what to say other than go and learn what product design actually entails.

Also, I’m not limited to one identity. I can and am many things and none. Product design is what I do, not what I am or how I think. I’m capable of having many types of thoughts and ideas and understanding where people are coming from.

But I also like to live in reality. It’s very easy to get inside a bubble and fail to see how the outside world perceives things. I’m reporting what others have expressed - THEIR words, not mine. And most reasons have nothing to do with censorship. Again, their words.

We have to keep in mind this is bitcoiners too; so maybe they don’t need to express that - maybe it’s a given.

I am sorry if you found my response curt, or insulting. I am well aware of a what a product designer does and their importance in the success of any endeavour. I have a deep respect for artists and designers and the skills they bring to any project. You included.

I was simply responding in kind to your thoughtful response to my note which read "wishful thinking".

My 3 sats: You're a product designer, so you think it's all about usability. Resistance is supposed to be hard work and messy. Resilience is in the engine is more important than the colour of the paint.

If we take a step back and ask ourselves, "Why does nostr exist?" It exists so that people around the world can communicate free from the mediation and manipulation of a centralized exchange of ideas. It exists so that people can speak freely, regardless of their standing in society. It exists so that the weak can be strong, and their words can used as resistance.

Nostr will grow, when the world needs it. We do not need to do anything other than reinforce the battlements that make the above possible. We do not need to water down content. We do not need to silence the ideas of a "bitcoiner", or anyone else.

Yes the UI could be better. Yes searching content could be better. Maybe in the west these are concerns, but if you live in an area where everything you say can be used as retribution, I think you are much more willing to put in the work to figure things out.

It will grow, because it will be needed. Patience is required, and in the not too distant future we will watch the enemies of free speech do all the marketing needed to grow nostr.

The threat of censorship will be the driving force of Nostr. Just wait for the next elections cycle to really get going, along with the next war, or the next external threat.

I believe this is the only reason/way for nostr to grow. It is its competitive advantage. Either people wake up to the fact that they are being silenced, excluded, and manipulated, or nostr diess.

Nostr exists to provide censorship resistant communications. Bitcoin exists to provide censorship resistant exchange of monetary value. People may not realize it now, but everyone in the world needs both. Everything else is secondary.
