And his third greatest gift was leaving early and never "selling" any of his #btc.
I wish I could reply to someone else's note without it appearing in the feed of all of my followers. People might only follow me for the #privacy / #bitcoin related content or whatever. I don't want to flood their feed with my irrelevant replies. This is why I hardly ever respond to anybody. Maybe i should use a second account for that. Or maybe I'm just overthinking. 🐧
I suggest you start with their statement.

It's a classic case of the "woke mind virus" excuse to censor. The very same people who were advocating for software freedoms now "take a political stance" and ban social network clients from their platform because the network in question refuses to police its users.

https://forum.f-droid.org/t/discouraged-by-f-droid-censorship/12017?page=2
They even starting censoring any discussions of the topic on their forum, and banning users because of it.

There has also been a lot of drama recently surrounding their "board of directors", with members quitting or whatever.
https://web.archive.org/web/20231117190207/https://gitlab.com/fdroid/admin/-/issues/446
Why does an Android FOSS repository even have a board of directors and community councils in the first place? How has it even come to this?
As I mentioned in the main post, F-Droid is compromised. There are too many humans in charge of things, and when they censored apps for ideological reasons, they opened a pandora's box. They cannot be trusted. Don't trust me either, do your own research.
Don't you guys love when you go on #primal client and your relays are missing, every fucking time, for no reason?
Or when you update your profile through #noStrudel client and your banner link gets removed, and you have to manually add it again through another client?
#asknostr #devstr #nostr
Hey, nostr developers, can anyone explain the difference between the "name", "displayName" and "display_name" fields in our nostr profiles metadata?
Why is there three different fields for what appears to be the same thing?
And why are some clients using one field while others use another? This shit leads to inconsistencies everywhere and newcomers will be completely puzzled, just as I am currently.
#noStrudel client uses "displayName"
#HablaNews client uses "name"
#Snort client uses "display_name"
Use this tool https://metadata.nostr.com/ and see for your self.
Basic shit like the fucking name of the profile shouldn't be so confusing and inconsistent.

If you are planning to bury your #bitcoin hardware wallet and not touch it for 10+ years, reconsider. You cannot assume that hardware will keep functioning. Even a simple screen malfunction could prevent you from accessing your #btc. Relying on hardware wallets as long-term storage is risky. For long-term backups, store your seedphrase instead.
The most reliable indicator that someone has truly studied and understood #bitcoin is when they confidently state that they have sold all their "investments" to go all in on #btc.
If you are still holding stocks and other "investments" to diversify your wealth. You haven't understood #bitcoin yet.
I just came across a developer promoting his upcoming #bitcoin learning app, it looked nice so i decided to check it out, turns out:
🔸 It's closed source.
🔸 It collects personal data.
🔸 Has a seven-page long terms and conditions.
🔸 The ToC document is (not joking) a Google Drive file.
🔸 No #nostr social page, only Twitter.
🔸 Oh, and if you want to join the waitlist, you have to give out your email and real name.
The funniest part? The founder's Twitter bio says "Lover of freedom, privacy, and decentralization".
Dementia is a terrible thing. My grandmother has it. Everytime i visit her it's heartbreaking. I came to the realization a while back that she's not the same person she used to be, that person is already gone, so I have to mourn a person who is still alive.
Have you thought about what makes you, you? If your memories were erased would you be the same person? Your "you", it's not the physical form you're using to interact with the world – it's your mind.

Is the Bitcoin Core software so resource-intensive that it requires a modern flagship phone to operate at maximum CPU usage?
#bitcoin "influencers" paying for X premium instead of supporting #nostr client developers is beyond me.
With F-Droid, you've to trust them to compile the apps correctly. With Obtainium, you have to trust every app developer to deliver what they have in their source code. GitHub itself is also a point of failure, you have to trust it too.
There's a risk on all sides. The most secure way of getting #android apps on your #grapheneOS is to download the source code, examine it yourself, and compile the app – an unlikely scenario for most people.

Avoid downloading #android apps from F-Droid.
F-Droid is compromised and has censored apps for ideological reasons. They don't care about freedom or free speech. I'll write more on this topic later.
It's also not secure to get your apps from there, because all of them are signed by F-Droid – you’re adding a party you’ll have to trust, which isn’t ideal.
I only use F-Droid to find #FOSS apps that I would not have discovered otherwise. I recommend using Obtainium, which lets you install and update your apps directly from their source.

No anti-virus will protect you. The problem isn't you having the right anti-virus – it's you. If you download a bunch of cracked software from shady websites, then you will get infected.
#privacy #cybersecurity #opsec
I don't use any #anti-virus software on my personal devices.
They can only detect old malware from script kiddies, they won't protect you from zero-day attacks. In fact, most anti-virus are actually spyware themselves – they can scan/read files on your device and send them to their servers without you knowing. If you really need to scan something, use an offline anti-virus instead, or upload it to VirusTotal.
The reason I don't use an anti-virus is that:
🔸 I don't download shit from shady websites.
🔸 I don't download attachments from random emails.
🔸 I don't download or use cracked software.
🔸 I'm aware of the links I click.
🔸 I mostly use free and open-source software (#FOSS).
🔸 And I manually configure my #firewall for every application I use so that nothing has network permissions unless I allow it.
In short, if you know what you're doing, the best anti-virus is actually yourself.

One less device. One less thing to worry about. If you're always on the move or don't have a permanent home base, then you are fucked as node runner. 🙂
If I can't carry my node with me everywhere, 24/7, then I can't protect it. I guess a small laptop or tablet might just be the solution i need. But having the node on the phone would make things a lot easier.
A small pruned node would be enough for many.
#bitcoin timechain is about 500 GB. Some #android phones have up to 1 TB of built-in storage, and some also support SD cards. There is also the option of an external SSD that you connect via USB-C.
Even if all those options aren't ideal. What's stopping us from running a pruned node?
Legit question. Why can’t we run Bitcoin Nodes directly on our phones? Why do we have to use over-priced Raspberry Pis, $500+ PnP hardware, or old laptops for this crap?
A phone has a screen, keyboard, battery backup, less physical space, and lower electricity demand. it's more secure. Always on. Always with you. Doesn't need to be connected by cable to a physical router. It also never faces stock shortages because it's ubiquitous.
What am I missing here? Why isn't this a thing?
