Also, reality never lies. If your mental picture doesn't match reality, check your assumptions because you are the one in the wrong.

Nope. This is why Nostr exists. It's the only place you *can* make that meme.

HOLLY SHIT! Wapo finally printed a somewhat accurate headline, even if it was accidental.

Strange, I had no trouble swallowing those after watching the news for less than a year.

Federal Reserve Updates Official Mission Statement

The Federal Reserve announced today that, after 111 years they are updating their mission statement. The original read: "The mission of the Board is to foster the stability, integrity, and efficiency of the nation's monetary, financial, and payment systems so as to promote optimal macroeconomic performance." While informative, the language is dated, confusing and dry. Chairman Powel explained, "The new statement is writtent in plain language to help consumers more easily understand the role of the Federal reserve in the economy and their lives." The new mission statement reads:

"From each according to their gulability; To each according to their greed."

> ... where people feel safe ...

This is the problem. You can make people "feel" safe but you can't actually make them safe. The 'safety' provided by centrailzed platforms is an illusion. I can go on any platform, sign up and post horrible things. Sure my account will get deleted, but it will be too late. Fortunately, the danger is mostly an illusion too. No one can physically harm you over the internet. Sticks and stones, etc. If your mental state is really so fragile that you can't handle any criticism, you need to seek help.

Doxxing is a real problem. The only protection for that is taking privacy and anonymity seriously and YOU are the only person that can realistically do that. No rule, law or policeman can prevent you from sharing your personal information. It is completely brain dead to use your real name on public forums (including Facebook, Twitter and Nostr) and still expect to retain privacy. When you put your information out there, you become a public figure and lose both practical and legal privacy protections. I always hear people saying things like "oh it's all out there anyway" or "the government already knows everything." First, those are bullshit. Second, you're not improving matters by being lazy. There are real steps you can take that will make you much safer. If you would rather make up excuses than learn, that's your problem.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”

Google and Apple autocorrect (and Microsoft?) send your txts to servers to be analysized so they can "improve the algorithm". Not sure whether the FEDs get them, but definately bad for privacy.

Thank You! Some asshat on Twitter stole my fugly ape yesterday and I've been looking for something to replace it!

Is that like being 'chaotic evil' in D&D?

Well, geolocation is terrible for privacy. I agree about not letting peole post images to preserve privacy, though. Also, it prevents it from becomming Chat Roulette.

Not sure what you're seeing that would make people leave, but there is a price for freedom of speech. You just can't have it both ways. Even on completely controlled platforms, things slip through all the time. Nostr's tools will get better, but there will always be things people don't want to see. If people can't handle that, it's their problem.

Ahh, the good ol' days. If you were a miner, it was even worse. This was around the time that ASICs were first comming to market. You had to buy them if you wanted to keep up. The only chocies were a company in the US with a slick web site and history of missing deadlines or a shady Chinese company with no website whatsoever. Both required payment in Bitcoin and had a delivery date of "whenever it's done."

ELIZABETH WARREN TO BRING BACK CAT CAM

Senator Elizabeth Warren announced in a press release over the Easter holiday that she was bring back former speaker Nancy Peolsi's popular Capitol Cat Cam. The live feed shows the activities of various cats in and around the capitol. It was originally started as a combination fund-raiser and test of new technologies. The currenet reincarnation is inteneded to help people cope with increasing hate speach and inflation by 'providing a safe space on the Internet' for everyone to enjoy.

So socialists don't like living in free states? Wow - good thing we have NBC to provide these useful insights.
