So they finally figured out they could get the kernel devs to maintain it for free?
Cats are incapable of rolling joints. If you try to hand a cat a joint, it will stare at you like you're a moron. If you roll one and leave it on the table, the cat will either knock it on the floor or eat it. Conclusion: Cats don't smoke pot.
Cigarettes, OTOH:

Inefficiency is a feature of the world we live in, not capitalism. Capatilism is a result of dealing with this limitation. We have limited time and resources and need to allocate them in the most efficient way possible. The best solution so far is to do this on a distributed basis using money and prices, aka a free market.
P.S. Capitalism is a term invented by communists to imply that we worship or are ruled by capital
A speculative attack against the E.U. and ECB:
The concept of a speculative currency attack has been covered exhaustively elsewhere. The short version is that anyone who can borrow or print in a weak currency can make a profit by doing so and using the procedes to buy a strong currency.
Due to a 'quirk' of how the E.U. monetary union works a member country could do speculatively attack the Euro at the expense of the rest of the nations in the E.U. Usually, when a country runs a defficit, they have to essentially print money or borrow to cover it. If their deficit gets too high, their currency will lose value against other coutries' currencies. The E.U. is different. They all share the Euro as their currency, managed by the European Central Bank (ECB). However, each member country has it's own central bank. All of these central banks are allowed to print the Euro. Transferrs within the E.U. are handled by the ECB. The ECB keeps separate accounts for each member country's transferrs to the rest of the EU. All member countries are allowed to run deficits on this account, but there is no mechanism to limit the growth of these accounts. This gives any E.U. member the ability to run infinate defficits with the rest of the E.U.
A member country which wanted to do a speculative attack on the Euro could buy Bitcoin from exchanges in other member countries and run their ECB deficit up. With no mechanism for forcing settlement, this country would effective get their Bitcoin for free. It would lower the value of the Euro, but the damage would be spread accross all member countries. If they were careful about it, the rest of Europe probably wouldn't catch on until it was too late.
Note: I'm probably getting the terminology wrong, but I believe the general mechanism is correct. It has been a while since I have looked at the inner workings of the Euro.
Welcome to the wonderful world of public key cryptography. Your Nostr account is made of a mathematically related pair of very big numbers called a public key and a private key. You public key is publicly available and peole can use it to verify that messages and posts you send actually came from you. They can also use it to send you private messages. Your private key is used to sign messages and read private messages. Your private key is similar to a username/password. It effectively is your account. It can be used with any Nostr app to access your account, but make sure the app is trustworthy. Keep your private key secret and back it up.
I want to a show recently where they would only take credit cards at the door. I turned around and left.
A reminder to practice good OPSEC before crossing borders. Different threat models may require more diligence, but as a basic rule of thumb, use travel devices and/or burner phones. Use a pin and password, not biometrics as some countries can force you to unlock devices with biometrics (country laws vary so do your diligence). Access data from the your e2ee travel cloud upon arrival at your final destination. Wipe the devices clean before crossing back over. Will write a more detailed guide soon.

> My phone and laptop were searched for 3 hours by US CBP at a land border crossing. I tried to refuse and return to Canada but I was not allowed to. If anyone has any advice on forensic analysis I can do to my own device to see what they did I would be grateful for it.

I enjoy your content, but it's not necessary to repost everything. It's getting kinda annoying.
LOL show up at my place of work and wave a phone in my face to find out how weak I am.
He mentions Christ, but doesn't know that God capped the human life span at (about) 120 years. If he were a real christian, he would know 135 is out of the question.
That's what happens when you're rude to the people at the DMV (or whatever bureaucracy Canadians use to issue license plates).
Hunting down someone IRL and harrassing them for something they said online seems to be against the ethos of Nostr and free speach. Granted, she probably used her real name and put her home address on her profile, like a complete tar... umm good little boomer. However, the correct thing to do is call her out in the comments.
Dissapointing. I was all excited to see pics of influencers with hiddeously deformed eyebrows. Just got one pic of a chick with too much makeup. The Bee really dropped the ball on this one.
Do you though? Part of the definition of ownership is the ability to exercise control over something. For desktop OSes there is always a way to edit that file. The only problem is a lack of knowledge on your part.
For mobile devices, however, it may actually be impossible. Even if there is a technical solution, you may be contracturally prohibited. Whether or not you own you phone is not a question that is not easy to answer. Pesronally, I use the stupid things as little as possible.
I learned about this and a ton of other strange and wonderful places from Atlas Obscura:

They also sell an actual atlas, so you can see if there is anything cool nearby when you visit somewhere.
I don't get it. How will this stick it to those greedy ice cream companies?
