I recently saw a conversation online where someone asked why they needed an extra device to secure Bitcoin but not other investments. Answeres were generally along the lines of explaining various technical aspects of Bitcoin. They weren't bad per say, but they missed the most important point:
You DO need a hardware device for you bank or investment account to be secure. If you aren't using two factor authentication with a dedicated device, YOU ARE NOT SECURE. Even with 2FA, you are still not as secure as Bitcoin. You are still at risk if you give your 2FA secrets to the wrong person. You also have significant third party risk - your bank or broker could go out of business, steal your money or lose your account details.
A properly secured Bitcoin account (with multi-sig) is one of the most secure ways we know of to hold any asset. It is extremely difficult to steal, can survive natural disasters and does not depend on the hoesty or competency of people you don't know or trust. To beat it, you need vaults and armies.
This image contains your exact location, speed and time as well as the distance you plan on traveling. That is enough for a clever attacker to work out who you are if they have access to cell network data.
Like what? FBI will investigate and find nothing useful, then Trump will fire the FBI and maybe the SS? Or maybe someone will attempt to finish the job? Trump shows up to the Bitcoin rally in full body armor? Republicans attempt to impeach Biden for inciting an assanation (he called Trump a threat to democracy)? Trump fires the SS and hires a private goon squad? Robert Kenedy finally gets SS proection?
It's all interesting, but it's just speculation and probably won't matter long term.

How long does the flash memory in a hardware wallet last without being plugged in? USB drives and flash memory usually fall prey to bitrot. Any numbers that we can reasonably go by?

About 10 years, unless it's poorly made, you get unlucky or you store it near a source of ionizing radiation. Wrapping it in a couple of layers of tinfoil will help somewhat. Lead is much better. Internal batteries and capacitors are a bigger risk. They can leak in just a few years and ruin your day.
Generally, I wouldn't feel comfortable haiving a single point of failure protecting any significant value. Backup your seed phrases and dirivation paths and consider multi-sig.
If I ever get nostr famous and can stack a huge amount of sats from providing (arguable trash) value to many plebs, I'd put those sats to building and documenting a how-to of building your own anti-Killdozer rifle. I'm one of the few people who is capable of doing that, and once it is thoroughly documented, making your own anti-Killdozer rifle would be significantly easier for many.
I also know a little about designing EMP weapons. ZAP ME!
Corporate needs you to find the difference between these two charts...
Banned From Reddit
I'm banned from Reddit now. I have no idea why. They didn't give me an explanation. I haven't previously received any warnings about policy violations. I have never even been banned from a sub (despite repeated attempts). I haven't even posted anything remotely controversial or inappropriate in any way in a couple of years. I have appealed. Maybe they will unban me eventually, when they get around to it, if they feel like it.
Nostr just works.

Hai guys! I'm new to Bitcoin; here's how to fix it...
That quote is *much* older that 2016.
Just take the time to explain the system properly. Don't use metaphors - they all suck and you'll just confuse peole more. Start with basic cryptography and then introduce public key crypto. Don't go into detail, just give them the overview. If they say silly things like 'that will never work' or 'it's unproven' just tell them that online banking and shopping have been using it sucessfully for 30 years.

Doing a crossword in pen? Welp, at least he's confident in his abilities.
And this is why you don't do business with Microsoft. They have a long history of screwing anyone that signs a contract with them.
Even if we knew for a fact this was true, it wouldn't matter. Both sides are so untrustworthy that it's impossible to guess who's behind it. It's either a deep state plot to stop Trump or a cleverly staged strategy to improve Trump's support. Neither would supprise me at this point.
The most likely explanation, however, is the guy just didn't like Trump and the SS dropped the ball.
