firewalld is what is installed by default, but seems like overkill and complicated. I do not have enough knowledge of Linux yet, just enough to get into trouble but not how to fix.

Ok, I saw a lot of cope from the MSM about the Putin interview yesterday. That was expected. Not a single media outlet has engaged with the statements in terms of content or even provided counterarguments. Instead, they have attacked his reputation in their usual manner.

But how brain damaged must one be to bring this headline?

By doing so, they not only confirm his point that the Western MSM are an unbeatable propaganda machine, but it's also the most incorrect conclusion one could draw from this interview. He consistently stated the opposite. How illogical and absurd such a conclusion (expansionist tendencies) would be. And he has actually consistently signaled open doors in all matters. Be it fake or not. At least, that's what he said. No threats whatsoever.

Turns out he downloaded a scam wallet (sparrow mobile) while trying to set up a "watch only" wallet. It asked for the wallet descriptor which is essentially everything a new wallet needs to spend UTXO's from the old wallet. So it was not a "watch only" wallet at all.

A fairly advanced scam which relies on:

1) The user not knowing there is no Sparrow mobile wallet

2) The user not knowing what wallet descriptors are

Always verify your downloads. In this case the user could have noticed the scam by not finding the mobile release on Craig Raw's trusted release listings while trying to verify with PGP.

Why do we need 2 devices – smartphone and a computer?

Smartphones should've replaced computers by now. They're powerful enough to handle most tasks, and they already have support for external monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

I shouldn't have to secure two devices, especially a desktop or a laptop that I can't carry around easily. Imagine a world where your smartphone is your only hardware device, and when you connect to any random external monitor with mouse and keyboard, it displays a desktop experience.

The only thing holding my dream back is software. #Android OS, while very good, it's not the same as #Windows or #Linux. Most apps aren't optimized for big screens. We need this.

You are giving whoever controls the updates full control over your software. With auto-updates, it is possible to:

🔸 Insert backdoors, spyware, and malware.

🔸 Add unnecessary features.

🔸 Remove features, make unwanted changes.

🔸 Add new bugs.

🔸 Use users like guinea pigs with shit like A/B testing.

🔸 Whatever else malicious developers want to do.

This is especially dangerous for browser extensions. It's common for developers of extensions to receive a ton of emails from "companies" trying to purchase their extensions for thousands of dollars. The goal? To do malicious stuff with the users who have them already installed.

Auto-updates can, and will be used for malicious stuff. Keep control of your software by making sure updating is always done manually.

Is there a better #foss cross-platform browser that is configured for privacy out of the box?

If I tell my normie friend they have to:

- change the default search engine,

- tweak settings and

- install extensions, etc
