last week on my citadel dispatch rip with nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx i talked about how unbelievable it is that the BANKING LOBBY pushing for the equal treatment of bitcoin advocating for repeal of things like SAB 121 (unfair accounting treatment of bitcoin that makes it financially not viable for banks to service bitcoin)
well, since the rip we've really been seeing the full force of that political power shift. the bill that repeals SAB 121 went through both house and the senate.
so stuff like unfair accounting treatments or bans of regulated entities to touch or service bitcoin, those things i have increasing confidence will be sorted out soon (which is good news b/c it means more ppl will be able to buy bitcoin with less friction; imagine opening your normal banking app and being able to buy bitcoin there).
the real fight now that remains in a tough place that we need to really focus our energy on feels like protecting our ability to interact with bitcoin the asset and network in a non-custodial way which governments are increasingly focused on pushing out while financial firms are trying to move closer to bitcoin.

In third world countries, the people quickly learn to dump their fiat shit coins - this little idea (CBDCs) will fail and ultimately speed up their implosion.
This will just get people closer to the stove quicker and speed up the learning curve - sad but good for BTC

How to make money running a #lightning node?
1 - setup and fund your own #bitcoin full node (this is so much fun in itself - but don’t get too excited when you at about 75% done in terms of blocks - the last epoch takes forever)
2 - open a few channels and link a few wallets (all good so far)
3 - watch it religiously for about 1 week
4 - lose interest and after restarting about 3-4 times (just turn it off)
5 - 1 years latter rip out the hard drive, format it to do an emergency backup
6 - 6 months latter, remember you had some #btc on the node
7 - find a way to access the funds (this is ridiculously fun in that you spend 2 days setting up another node and then try all sorts off wallets and software to try and access the old wallet and config
8 - success, you locate your funds, send to a HW and it’s worth 4x the dollars (for the purists- okay I’ll acknowledge you lost a few sats on forced closes, but at the end of the day you still have bulk of your BTC)
9 - lesson learned - stay humble, stack sats
