I lost my yellow plate but shown here is the cyan and magenta plate. the other one is just a grayscale image that I used as a mask. This was to give you an idea on what decompose from RGB to CMY.

I've been I've been experimenting with various #CMYK shades, taking a somewhat manual approach. My next challenge is to map my custom #color #palette directly onto the image. This will be complex since I've lost touch with the process of assigning #colormaps or palettes to images. However, I believe I can achieve this by implementing dithering techniques.

In my previous projects, I used masking to isolate cyan in shadow areas to avoid over-darkening elements like a cyan balloon. It's a method I remember but one that requires patience and precision.

For this colormapping endeavor, I'll need to revisit some tutorials, particularly those for #GIMP or #Krita, to refresh my knowledge. Regarding #AffinityPhoto, I was led to expect free upgrades, but I've found myself locked out of version 2.0. They've broken their promise, and I'm not willing to pay another hundred dollars for the update.

I experimented with #CMYK by mixing white with cyan to lighten it and black with cyan to darken it, which seemed effective. However, I noticed that 100% cyan appears bright in highlights but is also used in the darkest shadows, creating inconsistency.

What should have been done is Undercolor Removal (UCR), where you reduce the cyan component in shadows where black ink will suffice. This technique is crucial because #printing at 100% for all CMYK colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) leads to ink saturation that won't dry properly on the #press, resulting in smudging.

With #UCR, you would print the bright cyan balloon with less ink in the shadows, allowing black to define these darker areas. This not only helps the print dry faster but also prevents the ink from staying wet on the press.

Keep an eye on my future #artwork; I plan to implement this technique soon.

I was planning my #palette by going through each of my #paintwithdow #cells. I've been loading one cell and then mixing my paint as I paint my #art . I still want to go back to my #pointillism #dream painting in #CMYK where I can have a premixed paint ready.
