Hi nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll team. I recently installed startos on an old Lenovo thinkpad (I installed the “non free” version if that matters. It seems like everything is running well. However is there a way for me to turn the screen off of the laptop so it doesn’t consume lots of power? None of the normal hardware buttons I use to adjust brightness or turn screen off seem to work.

Thanks!

You can just close the lid, it should continue working just fine.

nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll is sold out of all hardware.

Damn! Good problem to have (for them) I suppose.

Horrible problem for us lol. Back in stock soon!

Mañana a las 3:30pm ET (UTC -4) nostr:npub14hz3xluls73nc8eyvy6fljm6tf8zt0xkxpgxngch36txfv24ycvs622r7l estará en el podcast Lunaticoin, para hablar sobre Start9.

ℹ️ Bitcoin on StartOS now exposes config options for permitbaremultisig, datacarrier, and datacarriersize.

These options afford users greater control over their mempool policies in order to filter certain kinds of transactions.

https://github.com/Start9Labs/bitcoind-startos/releases/tag/v26.0.0.1

⚠️ Due to a bug in StartOS, it is best to stop the Bitcoin before performing this update.

If you update Bitcoin while it is running, it may get stuck in "Stopping" status. If this happens, just restart the server.

❤️ Thank you to the various community contributors who PR'd these options into the service codebase.

Me and nostr:npub1rznlzpg529u8j39a8qe7tapsygd54qp5qyr5jyue7whwpw79rsjqmzr4ly would highly recommend running a Bitcore Core node on StartOS from Start9. Then you can use Electrs with Sparrow Wallet from nostr:npub1hea99yd4xt5tjx8jmjvpfz2g5v7nurdqw7ydwst0ww6vw520prnq6fg9v2

You can buy so called “node in a box” from Start9.

Both the nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll Server One and Server Pro are literally awesome. Their customer service from the co-founders Matt Hill and Aiden McClelland is even better. I would characterize it as world class. I have personal experience. Thanks Aiden.

Both the Server One and Server Pro (former Server Pure) comes with 2 or 4 TB SSD.

The Start9 HP EliteDesk 800 G3 (Refurbished) also comes with 2 or 4 TB SSD.

I think it's time to run my own node. Is nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll a good choice for someone who is reasonably tech savvy but still new to the technology side of the Bitcoin world?

That's why we exist :)

Getting nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll Server. What do you all do about physical security? Specifically fire protection. Seems like I should get 2 in different locations.

You create backups, then you can store a backup in a separate location. It's a simple feature in StartOS.

In StartOS v0.4.0, you will be able to automatically create backups to remote locations.

nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll Trying to login to a DIY server via the Tor onion address just loads a blank page on debian desktop and on android mobile.

Have tried reset of tor and wipe in experimental. Have restarted thinkpad and server.

Sounds like your Tor Browser privacy setting are too high or your Internet connection is terribly slow. You would know best which one.

I have no idea why we are not listed there or how to fix it.

How is flashing StartOS to a piece of hardware any more than flashing Ubuntu? In fact, I'm pretty sure StartOS has less bloat than most distros.
