Some things debt can be ok for if done properly. Consumer debt is dumb. I still have a mortgage on a house, and would be stupid to pay it off early. Student loans are a scam. My children will never be told they need to go to college to be successful, and in fact are more likely to be successful not going. I didn't like Dave Ramsey's investment ideas, but if someone wants to get out of consumer debt his plan worked for my wife and I a decade ago.
