I think where people stop thinking correctly about the block size is that no matter how big it is, it's still finite and can't possibly scale to "buy a cup of coffee" as the network grows. Imagine many billions of transactions a day on the network, some for buying coffee. What it needs to do is be auditable by individuals running their own node, this is why small blocks are essential to the continued viability of the network. Layer 2's are where smaller purchases should and do take place for the most part. Trust minimized scaling for small purchases, not sure if lightning is the winner, but at the moment the most utilized and mature L2, time will tell though.
I'll never forget being told by an older coworker when I was in my early teens. "Don't sweat the small stuff. And it's all small stuff". Not that I totally agree, but it's a good heuristic to live by IMO.
Yep running a node is not as easy as a plug and play install. Backups are critical, hardware more than a raspberry pi is a must. I think the Start9 and Umbrel installs have done more harm than good for most plebs. Learn to install and setup your infrastructure. It's not as hard as some think and there's a lot of advantages to running your own setup.
Had this discussion with someone trying to explain to me how leveraged trading works. I asked them how it worked out at the bottom of the bear market. I basically pointed out that if the trade is for more fiat, they'll lose out in the long run. The best asymetric bet is to just buy and hold Bitcoin as everything else is trending to zero against it. It's a long play that requires more fortitude than most want to convict themselves to. If you understand this, you're ok buying the top, just as you are with buying the bottom. But yes, waiting for the phone calls to know when the top is in. π
There's lots of podcasts, I think they're great, and can lead to other thing. I've had similar thoughts. I'm also a software developer and love it for the most part but also think about other aspects. Keep asking yourself questions.
"The plain fact is that education is itself a form of propaganda β a deliberate scheme to outfit the pupil, not with the capacity to weigh ideas, but with a simple appetite for gulping ideas ready-made. The aim is to make βgoodβ citizens, which is to say, docile and uninquisitive citizens." ~ H.L. Mencken
GM and happy Easter! God is good.
Mainstream media, doubling down. Incredible.

They have no option but to double down. The entire COVID regime was based on control and to back off would admit being wrong. They can't do that. The shots were experimentation on a global scale. Fuck these people.
We are in an information war. Alex Jones was right.
Imagine thinking "The shitcoin we just created isn't shitty enough. I think we should make one even shittier".
Most young people should have the majority of their savings in bitcoin.
All in. No regrets.

Not in all caps, not sure if I should listen to or not.

I'm not necessarily 'young' but I'm all in. I'd say anyone under 50 should have a significant portion of their assets in Bitcoin.
