To date, we’ve issued 70+ grants worth $7M+ to 40 grantees and 10 projects across 20+ countries. A dozen now work full-time bitcoin jobs. Rather than fire off statistics, we gave current and former grantees a chance to talk FOSS bitcoin in their own words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VFWx9mkm8U&t=3s

In case you don’t have 4 minutes (come on, you’re on Twitter), the takeaway is this: Every org that benefits from the work of FOSS devs and designers should be supporting them. This way, devs, and designers get paid to do what they love, bitcoin gets better, and everyone wins.

OKCoin, HRF, OpenSats, Bitfinex, Strike, Coinbase, Kraken, Chaincode Labs, mitDCI, Brink, the btrustteam, and others are with us. Don’t have the resources to run a grant program? Donate to orgs like Brink or let employees take sabbaticals to work on FOSS.

We are always accepting grant applications. If you have an ambitious idea for how to improve bitcoin, email us at grants@spiral.xyz. It worked for this testimonial video’s stars: thunderbiscuit, Daniela Brozzoni, John Cantrell, Justin Moon, Steve Myers, Stephen DeLorme.

does a team of people run the Spiral Nostr account?

it would be great to see a some best practices for how to manage a brand account with a team

i believe that At Protocol allows for verification in the sense that your data will only be accessible from the server that you have specified.

NOSTR allows for copying and pasting your data all over.

At Protocol = more user control but less broadcasting / availability theoretically

you’re confusing permanence with a lack of user control of their own data. nostr does not guarantee permanence nor ephemerality. you just hand your data over to nodes and they do whatever they want with it.

hopefully this will push people to realize the pointlessness of unencrypted notes and encrypted will become the default.

posting is just a “request” too though. and it also does not work like centralized posting.

damus doesn’t know if any relay will honor *any* request, right? why is a delete request special in this regard?

This thing is getting awesome! One thing that confuses me is the “Processing items” pop up though.

I don’t understand what it’s doing exactly. Is it downloading the new posts since I last opened the app? Is it parsing posts that it has already downloaded?

It seems to constantly pop up while I’m using the app. Which makes sense if new posts are detected constantly. But do i really need to be made aware of that as a user?

What if I only want it to download new notes when I drag down from the top? It would be nice to have some control there

Bluesky is taking the Clubhouse approach. By the time the app goes public, the hype will be dead.

Closed betas just piss people off.

new Nos Social release honors delete events client side!

> Nos now honors delete events from other users, even if their relays don't.

this is the way to do it! As a user, I want to respect my friends so that I don’t feel weird!

You might find this surprising, but on iOS safari, there is no button in such a location

Substack was good because you owned your email list. You could always just send emails directly if you ever needed or wanted to

Remember when they banned a sitting president from social media? Really makes you wonder

Soooo good to see a wallet that is guiding users into the best practices!

instead of centralizing around relays which point us to contacts, we centralize around contacts which point us to relays.

since a nostr account exists independently of any relay, contacts are the more decentralized thing to centralize on.
