chronic early adopter of decentralized tech :)

This is how peer review works. Peer reviewed content curation. I love it!

Make that a feature of a “daily digest” function. nostr:note1vedysr359wgm92xdyr77j8jea0ksfx8cq74ahey6sg4waygr6qnq0eedjz

When the sh-t hits the fan, privacy and safety is more important than the mere ability to post.

A “free speech” platform quickly becomes a honey pot

Feeling sort of blackpilled about privacy on Nostr. I don’t see how regular people would ever want to use something that has no “friends only” posts AND no delete ability.

And people are much less likely to scam for insurance money if it’s their family / friends

Congrats on getting to go to Madeira! That will be FOMO season for me.

Also respect for being an Ordinals contrarian, it can't be easy around these parts. IMO ordinals are dumb and bad, but I hold all my opinions with a loose grip because of a friend (and former boss) of mine who is 150% smarter than me and yet chooses to work in defi. Maybe you can bring a perspective to nostr we haven't seen before.

Anyhow, welcome again, and have fun in Madeira!

If Bitcoiners change the protocol to make Ordinals impossible, it would prove that they can change the protocol in other ways too.

So they’re stuck. They can’t let people know that improving the protocol is possible 😂

I am still hoping for a signer app that handles both NIP-7 and NIP-24 and nsecbunker. Let it just be a generic signer app that lets me sign both native mobile apps and browser apps

Define one NIP for webxdc apps and you get infinite functionality in return. No need for a thousand different NIPs.

https://delta.chat/en/2023-08-11-xstore

See the docs on webxdc for how it works. Any messaging app can implement webxdc to add safe messenger apps like games etc.

https://docs.webxdc.org

The problem is that people will just delete the onboarding app after they are onboarded and there is nothing to do.

It should at the very least be a note signing app (like Nostore) or something. Give people a reason to keep the app

I recently gathered a bunch of rss feeds specifically for the airship / blimp industry. Straight from the company press releases is an awesome idea. Biggest issues I run into is

1. I don’t want to go to a specific place to only check one industry (your site could solve that niche issue)

2. The feed is often a bit noisy if you’re not extremely familiar with the specific industry. Unless you understand the industry niche, you’re not going to know how to act on the info. (AI could help with that)

Been wanting to get this project live for a while!

Primus News aims to focus on news with two qualities:

1. Actionable: news that you can act on in your daily life, things that have a meaningful answer to the question "what can I do with this information?"

2. Direct from the source: when news comes directly from the primary source, you get the most accurate picture of the information, rather than getting a version that's been manipulated to fit a news agency's financial/ideological goals.

My aim is to source this news directly from the RSS feeds of the entity that's reporting it.

This is also a Progressive Web App, so it can be installed on your phone by:

iOS: tapping the share button in the browser and tapping "add to home screen"

Android: tapping the 3 dot menu and tapping "install"

One issue is that I don’t understand why you’ve chosen the feeds that you have. And the channel filter next to “all” isn’t grouped by any kind of category. Like “ford motor company” is in “product”. Shouldn’t they be “automotive”?

One idea is also to run articles through an AI like “Tell me 3 ways I can act on the information in this article”. Make that goal more transparent maybe

The Nostr protocol can uniquely enable us to be free from the tyranny of personal tech devices.

Use any public / shared nostr terminal. When you want to access private data or sign a message, tap your signer device on the terminal.

If you must, get a pager that notifies you of important events so you know when to get back to a terminal.

“[Nostr privacy] is not worse [than Twitter or Facebook], it’s just different”

It’s basically like banks vs Bitcoin, right? Instead of one company (beholden to laws and user protections) having your data, a bunch of people (impossible to enforce laws on) have it.

There should be public Nostr terminals like phone booths.

purplepag.es relay to look up an address like a phone book.

Sign the message with a signer device.

Thinking about money is fundamentally uncool.

It’s cool to not have to consider money at all. This is a big reason that advertisement-based products took off. It’s also a big reason that long term subscriptions took off rather than micro-payments.

The less you force your user to think about money, the more they will like your product.

🤮

Exactly my point 👆

Why “nostr devs could never”? Because they’re too obsessed with Bitcoin. All they care about is locking their users into a Bitcoin-only ecosystem where everything requires cheesy micropayments.

Ask yourself why Nostr ecosystem doesn’t have a feature (like customizable profile fields). The answer is almost always “because it could be used to counter signal bitcoin”. It’s depressing as hell
