We got Nostr into mainstream media again! 🔥
Mastodon & Bluesky users are exploring Nostr for the first time ever thanks to Openvibe and how convenient it is to just add another protocol and discover interesting people there 😊

Wow! Just hearing about this. Is Openvibe a fork of that other server that bridges all the networks or is it unique code from scratch?
Regarding the VPNs, if it’s possible to use Nostr without the normal internet, it could help. Like directly on Nostr, not HTTP?
The speech was all over twitter. It’s available on YouTube I’m sure
I wrote about the mainland Chinese who are using Nostr, educating each other how to use it, to talk about their daily lives and other uncensored thoughts.
Hattip to nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s as always for his stories and anecdotes, and nostr:npub13v47pg9dxjq96an8jfev9znhm0k7ntwtlh9y335paj9kyjsjpznqzzl3l8 for helping me carve a path to getting this data.
Wouldn’t privacy be a bigger concern than censorship in their situation? Lack of privacy could actually be dangerous for them, no?
Going to read up on it. I wonder how painful/expensive it is to run those relays.
Do you know who is running nostr:npub1dd9znw7585wsam4d8p84ztdmtywwjsrayld6fzk4fvqdn5hpju4st5xe7p? Looks super interesting.
They have a footer on the bottom of their page to input your npub to receive messages to keep up with their development. Next to their email sign up. Very cool!
They won’t nuke your data. They’ll keep it forever and monetize it (if they’re smart).
That’s why we should be paying only for encrypted notes. Our unencrypted notes are inherently valuable to relays.
It’s fairly common in America that there are pseudo-monopolies. When everyone is hurting, our corporations are still making record breaking profits.
I wish we had a President doing that here too. People call it “price control” as a scare tactic. Put the health of the people first!
I 100% support Bukele.
Bitcoin is not about the “free market” or whatever else bogus religion you espouse. I’m glad that there is one leader in the world that has his head on straight and puts his people above ideologies.
*connects to relay*
“Do you consent to give this relay ownership of your content?”
☝️ this would be honest and truthful UX in Nostr
Isn’t this already how Nostr works? I’m communicating over HTTP right now, no? https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/98.md
reticulum LoRa announce, cool!

Reticulum rocks! I just wish they invested more in client apps like meshtastic
I’m in favor of doing the hard thing for the greater benefit in the future. And tbh maybe your solution doesn’t even go far enough. Why not the full pki? Let’s die on a hill worth dying on 😂
Linguistics nerds follow this Anglish account!

I used the term “fork” in a tongue in cheek way. I have been on nostr as long as you Melvin 😂
But the point stands that the user experience is equivalent to a “fork”, yes. The user experience would be split between two incompatible key management NIPs. As mentioned in this thread, it would require a kind of reset for users. But I think it’s worth it because nostr is still quite small and it’s a necessity for growth!
If half the clients adopt the NIP and half don’t, that’s basically a fork in the network. But the number of clients is small enough that a reset wouldn’t be that bad imo. Worth doing while the network is still young. Especially lack of key rotation needs to be tackled sooner
Would subkeys also allow for key rotation? Seems like if you’re going to soft-fork nostr, it better be for a 10x better solution. Just include all the key upgrades at once
I 100% support the mail system analogy. It’s great. Could such an NIP be extended to any note (even outside of keychat)?
What are the fees for ecash? Also, 1 sat will be 1 dollar sooner that we realize. So what do we do when 1 message = 1 dollar?
Indeed…
