Hard fork in the sense of nostr would just be a change in the identity system which would create two different networks. But yes good call to clarify that
I’m a modern warfare guy. Never cared about black ops
Even if he only changed one thing (the PKI), it would be a hardfork of nostr. There are some base level items that cannot be improved without a hardfork.
So if you need to hardfork for that, might as well change some other things (like the assumption that everyone will have their own personal relay I suppose).
Yeah until the feeds are based on the user’s follow graph, these are not what people think of when they think of DVMs or feed marketplaces. These are hardcoded... Custom Feeds on Bluesky are actually algorithmic (different based on each users data like follows, follows of follows, reactions, etc) nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr
That is actually really useful! I don’t understand the strength column though because the most persuasive stuff is at the bottom
few understand we have one of the best protocols for efficiently syncing datasets between nostr nodes. nostr officially grows up when NIP-77 lands.
What will NIP-77 make possible? No duplicates on the timeline?
Would it be possible to manage nostr logins with a Yubikey?

Is there a concept of giving access only to specific files / directories then?
> Now you can build on top of such stack, I am sure you could come up with 100s of micro apps ideas
Will each app just put their data in a subdirectory of a user? If so, that reminds me a lot of GunDB! nostr:npub1g53mukxnjkcmr94fhryzkqutdz2ukq4ks0gvy5af25rgmwsl4ngq43drvk
This is awesome. Seems like Pubky is building best practice key management into the protocol / app
So you’re not using the priv key to sign any and every thing?
For nostr, I was looking into a hardware signer device that would be able to have a whole nsecbunker running on it. But it seems like that doesn’t exist anymore
One thing I thought was cool is that in Pubky you don’t really use your keys that often huh
But also, there’s a lot of blacklisting of whole servers in the ActivityPub world. It severely limits the *amount* of data accessible to the algorithm itself.
Well I’m just thinking of all the heavy lifting required for servers to actually curate and feed the data. It’s way more processing power required right? Each person would have their own algorithm. Or custom algorithms like Bluesky has where they are off on their own servers
nostr:npub1jvxvaufrwtwj79s90n79fuxmm9pntk94rd8zwderdvqv4dcclnvs9s7yqz are you working with Pubky now?
It's all going on: The fediverse is getting its own TikTok competitor called Loops

Algorithm and discovery will always be crippled on ActivityPub.
But also, the way that you can log in with your PixelFed account is an example of how identity is super confusing on that network and not actually useful
I think the innovation is more around an architecture that assumes everyone has their own data store. They’re also using PKARR DHT for keys which is something that I think is simply too late for nostr to adopt
