I’m going to end up doing a full year without going to bitcoin conferences, by design.

I skipped Nashville, skipped MENA, skipped all the European ones. Nothing against them. Just wasn’t feeling it.

I did the Oslo Freedom Forum in June, but that’s not a bitcoin conference. The last actual one I did was Madeira in spring 2024.

Sometimes it’s good to take a break and refocus rather than phone it in and say the same things again. The things I said before are still valid, so why say them again, you know?

I’ve been traveling to visit family and friends instead.

After trying to orange pill family and friends with a zero percent success rate over the last 3 years…I randomly had a secondary acquaintance from high school who I haven’t spoken to in 20 plus years privately DM me on X after seeing some of my bitcoin posts. After several back and forths I believe I have officially orange pilled someone. I was shocked at how much joy this made me feel, especially given the very loose personal connection. It was like pulling a fellow member of humanity out of Plato’s cave. Thanks to nostr:npub1s05p3ha7en49dv8429tkk07nnfa9pcwczkf5x5qrdraqshxdje9sq6eyhe who started my orange pill journey in 2021 with Price of Tomorrow. I’m eternally grateful. Also, I of course recommended Jeff’s book, among the other standard bitcoin go to’s, to my high school classmate.

Yep they charge transaction fees based on whatever fee level you are at. I just started using it myself.

The issue I didn't consider at first was the fees Strike charges for each transaction. If you pay a $3000 a month mortgage that adds up over time!

I didn’t realize there were bill pay transaction fees. Is it just the slippage or are there actually fees? I haven’t used it yet.

I want to do this too - but am I unusual that I have to pay people with cash and checks still?

Nah I’m trying to figure out my rent with bill pay. Right now it’s a bank wire transfer (it used to be check only). Not sure if that’s going to work. Maybe my boomer landlord can figure out bitcoin 😂

I’m thinking about doing an experiment. I currently have zero fiat. Starting January 1st, I want to see how long I can live off of 1 bitcoin.
