Don't get me wrong. I'm impressed with the level of generosity of some. Bitcoiners are value-for-value people, and some have proven that's not just talk. I think for the rest there will just need to be an (ick) paywall in place.
To be fair I've had a bunch of folks say they'd pay an annual subscription for the client. It's just a matter of pulling the trigger and putting that requirement in place to see how many people live up to their words. I haven't done that yet because I want the feature set more complete and some of the bugs/kinks worked out first, but that day is coming.
In the meantime I'm just focusing on making NostrGram the best I can to attract enough users so when that day does come it will be (hopefully) well supported. I believe in the space and the people who occupy it, which is why I'm willing to put so much work into it for so little initial return.
And I agree with you that it's a matter of time. People need to get comfortable with the way things work. I'm optimistic.
Ah gotcha. Yeah if you're out in the wild NostrGram isn't your best client for sure. I'm working on improving the reconnection code so it picks up where it left off without you having to press a button again, but it's mostly been designed for desktop and big screens so some significant refactoring is involved. Thanks for the feedback!
I think the bottom line for creators is pay. I *love* Nostr, its censorship resistance and ⚡ integration. Developing NostrGram has been a dream for me. But out of the many thousands of people using NostrGram, only a small % have sent a ⚡ for the hundreds of hours of work I've put into it, and most of those are for a few pennies.
I believe in Nostr so I press on (and *really* appreciate those who have been more generous in their support). But for creators who are used to big payouts from ads running on their content, pennies won't cut it. It's a business decision on their part, and I get it.
My stance is more principled, but despite that principle if things don't pick up or I find a way to better monetize the platform in the coming months I'll have to turn my attention to other fiat-mining things (yuck). I'm lucky that I'm self employed and so my time is more flexible than most. That's my 2c.
Can you be more specific about what you mean when you say it "throws wobblies" (love that phrase btw lol). What kinds of things are you experiencing? If I can understand it I might be able to fix it.
I'm honestly not sure. It seems to only ever happen to people who use multiple clients, so clearly one is overwriting the record of the other. Though why it would go from 100s of followings down to 1 is still puzzling to me.
I would think, for instance, that if one client was aware of 200 followings and you followed a new person in a 2nd client that the 1st client would just overwrite the record with the 200 it was aware of and you'd lose the 1 new following.
Why do all the followings get removed for some people? I don't know.
Ok great. I pushed an update earlier today that fixed some issues for a number of folks. I guess that got your issue too! Thanks for putting up with things as it develops.
I'm seeing you following 121 on NostrGram. Also you can click the Calendar icon in your profile box to reload your older list of followings (up to 10 lists in the past).
cleaned up the code for the relay checker a little. it gives you a bit more progress information as it's checking now: https://nrcheck.tigerville.no

Nice! Great way to solve your issue.
It doesn't appear until you type or paste something into the editor.
Alby extension login working okay for me now. But The feed is often sluggish.

I just doubled the number of service workers on the socket server. Let me know if it still seems sluggish. Server load is low so I can further increase it later today if it's still an issue.
Ok folks. I'll be away for an unknown number of hours. Taking a friend to the hospital (just out-patient, nothing serious, but still time consuming). As always if anything comes up just tag me or DM me. I'm working furiously to fix issues and improve the system. Just doubled the number of server workers *again* due to traffic growth. Seems to be working well so far. "See" you again soon! 💜
That I do sir. That I do.
🙏 So much more building to do. Nostr is growing and changing so fast. It's hard to keep up! I love it though. 💜
You're welcome! Thanks for using NostrGram.
Successful test sir. 👌
Yes if you disable all the other relays for writing and only write a few tests posts to Nostr wine and you see those posts in your feed then you know it's working.
Pushed another bug fix update to NostrGram. Should solve issues for folks using browsers like Vivaldi/Brave. Refresh for the update and please let me know if you run into issues. If I can duplicate it, I can fix it.
s/o #[0] for taking the time to help me troubleshoot!
