People are unpredictable, therefore there is no *perfect* to way to perform any of the subjectives jobs I listed above.
Computers are predictable and results are measurable, on the other hand. When we release our mega trees, it’ll be obvious that _nothing_ else that exists today can beat them. It’s an objective fact, not a subjective argument.🎄
That is why I love computer science — impotent competition can’t beat the measurable truth! 📐📏
Proof is in the pudding. 🐝
In computer science, there is a point of perfection (limited by existing tech). It’s why nothing has beat bitcoin, even though billions of dollars has been poured into shitcoins that fail to live up to Bitcoin’s computer science.
Most careers do not have an opportunity for people to achieve perfection in (e.g. marketing, governing, customer service, trading, etc.), but that is exactly why I love computer science so much. I can funnel my drive for perfectionism into something that can actually materialize.
It will take perfection to achieve such a feat. Many say there isn’t “one” right way to do something… I disagree. There is a point of perfection (using existing tech), and we will reach it. It’s only a matter of time and effort now. 🐝
Beauty of modularity: as new tech emerges, like quicker databases or better encoding schemes, we can swap them out while maintaining the perfected design. The designed computer science can be perfected while the underlying pieces powering the design can evolve over time, like bitcoin. Bitcoin’s consensus rules are immutable, but it gains new pieces like Schnorr when they become available.
In terms of UX, user customization is key there because it is a subjective experience, not an objective science (CS). Have an idea cooking for that later too. :-)
Your “bitcoin community” should be more than people on Twitter. Each person has their own small quorum. Balance is required, like in any industry, so you aren’t drowning in the bickering of strangers or only working with people who don’t really care about you.
“If you truly believe in something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
Ignore the noise and pick up the OG materials. If you don’t have any friends in real-life that love this stuff, then you’re forced to only talk about it with people over the internet — that’s where exhausted devs go wrong.
Toxic maximalists are great when they’re defending truth with logic rather than emotional hazing, but they can’t be your only friends! Of course you’d quit if so lol. We can’t just live our whole lives behind computers and expect to feel good.
