Interoperability is not a buzzword. Just because the first few #Nostr clients mimic twitter utility doesn't mean the protocol has only Twitter functionality.
When explaining Nostr to people, try to focus on explaining how it stands out on a protocol level. Nostr is not a protocol for privacy, Nostr is a protocol for the power to broadcast. Wether it's a financial transaction, a point of view, a picture, merchandise, you name it. Nostr enables the user to equip a universally functional digital identity for all matters online without verification of physical identity. You only need one npub to use all different clients, and all clients can make visible all available event kinds. Much like being able to view your telegram messages with WhatsApp and vice versa, that is interoperability.
Nostr is an interoperable broadcasting tool.
Here at #BTCAmsterdam I’m hearing a lot of focus on marketplace functionality of Nostr from all different perspectives, clearly many people are wondering how to start selling on Nostr, how to integrate their product and what it will look like. Some name #NIP15 specifically, but most are just asking about it wondering out loud. Questions are: How censorship-free will the Nostr Marketplace be? Will illegal wares be able to be sold? What would a kiosk look like? Is Lightning integration safe for business transactions?
