“aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.”

“We get a clear picture of the map within us, chart our course, put together a small bag of essentials, find some other travelers that are headed in the same direction and together, we move slowly toward our telos.”

And yet, ignorant of your price predictions, the blocks tick onward.

The 2024 human mind is a cluttered place.

Sending and receiving bitcoin on a “bank holiday” hits different.

I feel like something that is always missing from the “ossify bitcoin” conversation is the clear explanation of the difference between code and protocol.

The protocol is the agreed upon language that the nodes speak. With some mathematical rules that they have all committed too.

The code is just there to automate everything. Every line of the bitcoin-core code could be changed in some way and it still adhere to the protocol.

It is weird that we exist. No matter what you believe about how we came to exist, it is strange and unlikely that we do.

I truly never know what you are going to post next and I love it.

The content and the people on nostr are so much more interesting and unique than the typical social media platforms. I haven’t had social media for years because it became so predictable and boring. People would just continue posting the same ideas over and over and then the same people would react the same way to those ideas. And on and on it goes.

I have enjoyed the refreshing uniqueness of people on nostr. Some of my favorites:

nostr:npub1dergggklka99wwrs92yz8wdjs952h2ux2ha2ed598ngwu9w7a6fsh9xzpc's gn photos and quotes are excellent.

nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx's focus on family is inspiring.

nostr:npub1ymt2j3n8tesrlr0yhaheem6yyqmmwrr7actslurw6annls6vnrcslapxnz is so weird in the absolute best way.

nostr:npub1vyrx2prp0mne8pczrcvv38ahn5wahsl8hlceeu3f3aqyvmu8zh5s7kfy55 makes me want to go live in the woods.

nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a teaches me so much.

nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s and nostr:npub1h50pnxqw9jg7dhr906fvy4mze2yzawf895jhnc3p7qmljdugm6gsrurqev are a power couple.

Finally actually setting up my nostr profile. Been lurking in ro mode for a while but convinced this is the place to be. I’m off all other socials and want to engage here. Found nostr through nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx and nostr:npub1dergggklka99wwrs92yz8wdjs952h2ux2ha2ed598ngwu9w7a6fsh9xzpc

Plan on exploring writing for the first time and hope to share some of it.

Attempting to live simply and undistracted.

I have a strong family and I aim to lead them well toward a telos that matters.

“There are books to be read; landscapes to be walked; friends to be with; life to be fully lived. And I realize that this is, in some ways, just another tale in the vast book of human frailty. But this new epidemic of distraction is our civilization’s specific weakness. And its threat is not so much to our minds, even as they shape-shift under the pressure. The threat is to our souls. At this rate, if the noise does not relent, we might even forget we have any.” - I Used to Be a Human Being an essay by Andrew Sullivan.
