I gotchu back once I'm back in my noon eating window!
If you stop and ask yourself, "wait, is the norm to say 'n-of-m' or is it 'm-of-n'?", you will never be sure which one is right.
And simply by reading this note, I have infected you with the same curse.

Heh, well whatever it deserves to be called, it kicked off the fastest, deepest keto I've ever experienced!
Sorry, carnivores.
After loving my keto + intermittent fasting results since June (20% body fat -> 12%!), I'll be switching over to be more plant-based for a while to see how a loose ovo-lacto-pescatarian diet pairs w/intermittent fasting.

Basic countours:
* include some animal proteins (eggs, cheese, yogurt, salmon)
* but majority plant-based
* avoid "fast" carbs
* no sugar (except honey, some fruit)
* no processed foods (obv)
* ~17/7 intermittent fasting
...but without being really super-strict about anything (occasional steak? sure).
Keto is an amazing tool; I've done it to varying degrees for *years* but it can sometimes make my brain feel a bit foggy, like I'm missing something it needs. Maybe just coincidence w/some other factor. I dunno. That's part of why I like the idea of changing things up and seeing what happens.

Dunno, shill me on some good ideas / additions! I just did brown rice, chicken stock, fire roasted diced tomatoes, garlic, onions. 13min in the pressure cooker. Beans, parsley, salt dropped in a the end.
Forgot that I was going to add some butter for more richness.
Minor (pending) accomplishment: Made rice & beans for the first time last night (I was raised on plain white rice, y'all). I think it turned out well, but I CAN'T F'N TASTE IT SO I'M NOT SURE!!! #CookingWithCovid

New cast iron achievement unlocked!

First time I've ever dared to try frying eggs in a cast iron pan. They just slid right out beautifully!

Thanks! Should be in the final days of it. π€
Last night's nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl experimental coding results: FASTER(?) QR code transfers back to the coordinator?
(shot from the exciting confines of my covid-induced hotel room isolation in Nashville! Basically a whole lost week reduced to napping and some coding when my energy held up)
https://video.nostr.build/957946b09f316e161ac8727f19aa2e80044a0f6ced993b0cfaea49d3a2d0ed78.mp4
And I think I was wrong when I called the abrupt Specter scanning exit a "crash". The fountain encoding used by these animated QRs is complicated; it's possible that Specter really was finished scanning, despite the percent readout only being ~30%.
The fountain encoding first figures out how many frames it takes to convey all the info. Call that `n`.
So, trivially, it starts by showing those `n` frames.
But after `n`, it starts merging random numbers of random frames (technically XOR).
e.g. `frame #5 + #13 + #22`
IF the decoder already has, say, frame #5 and frame #22, then it can use this merged/XORed frame to reconstruct frame #13.
So while Specter can accumulate a lot of these XOR frames but seemingly not make much decoding progress.
It's like setting up dominoes; the scene is being set for lots of cascading effects to happen, a whole sequence waiting to be unlocked if it can just get the starting point to trigger.
As soon as it finally sees #22, now it knows #13. And that then unlocks #4... which unlocks...
And so when I pressed the button to restart the fountain encoding, I started supplying it with those first n complete frames and the unlocks could then cascade like crazy.
So not a crash, just a non-intuitive, sudden domino cascade that's hard to convey in a percent status.
You almost need a sort of potential energy meter: "I don't know the answers yet, but this dam 'bout to burst, y'all!!"
Anyway, I still have a lot more to learn here and more testing to try out.
But I think the inherent design of fountain encoding plus a well-applied restart to the sequence could make a lot of sense for this use case.

In my defense, I did drop the Nostr fomo in right at the top of the thread!

Ha, but wasn't the Nostr markdown wars like 6 months ago? How did that resolve? Did the markdown maxis prevail?
Forgive me nostr for I am about to sin.
I've been posting nostr-first / nostr-only the last few days, but I just wrote a long twitter thread full of nerdy goodness and am about to copy-paste it here.
What is the proper ritual to perform to cleanse my nostr karma?
Omg, a covid tastebud mega WIN: cilantro's entire, gross flavor is a big NOTHING right now!!
And just enough of the banh mi pickle flavor is still making it through. Glorious!

Well, technically by "color" I just meant a shade of gray, but yeah, I'd have to dig into the QR rendering library we're using to understand why changing the defaults hit the rendering performance so hard.
Cool, my covid tastebuds can taste Nashville hot chicken, honey mustard sauce, and even baked beans!
Makes up for my morning coffee tasting like a big nothing.

Fail! Changing the color somehow introduced a new ~12sec rendering delay!
Have no idea why. Shelving this idea for now.
