Today in Coding With Covid, I bring you a long overdue UI rendering tweak to properly display the lower-right registration box in a 25x25 or 29x29 SeedQR.

Got it fixed fairly quickly but had to push through some harder debugging at the end while feeling my energy level draining out fast. Bottom just fell out suddenly on me. Feeling pretty sick again. Whee!

Anyhoo, before / after:

(the red is just a temporary debugging thing so I can see my changes more easily)

The errant dot rendering makes it confusing when creating your SeedQR; it looks like boxes you should be marking but the templates already have it filled in. It just makes you a little unsure of where you're at.

The corrected squares-not-dots rendering also applies to the zoomed-in transcription UI, fixing the aforementioned confusion:

Got it all working and submitted the PR:

Now it's bedtime for me, y'all.

I honestly wonder now if I was being a shitty friend by not indulging in his political-hatred-as-hobby.

It's his time. Even if I disagree, I have to at least acknowledge that it's his decision for how he wants to spend it.

Blecchh, that's like a outer ring level of hell: your tastebuds are dead for everything except bloody marys. My god, the horror.

A vodka seltzer with covid taste buds is... not good.

My compromise solution to at least be part of the excitement at Bitcoin Park while giving people fair warning to decide for themselves what proximity is right for them.

So far every person I've talked to has been appreciative of the heads up. Some have pulled up a chair and hung out, others have stood back and had a distanced convo. It's their call and I love that they have full info to make their own decisions.

Bitcoiners in person are always so much better than the noise on social media.

If he knew today was his last day, would he choose to spend it complaining about politicians or would he choose to spend it enjoying time with his family. Would he carve out an hour of his last day to watch Rachel Maddow or Tucker Carlson? Obv not.

If he knew he had two final days... same.

Now, sure, as time stretches out, the value of any given day or any given minute decreases. But the basic principle remains: When time is absolutely precious, focus on the things that really matter.

Though it may more be that while he's feeling good he doesn't WANT things to be any different. It would be reasonable for him to continue to enjoy this temporary "nothing's changed" period before the real trouble starts.

A dear friend told me he has Stage 4 cancer... we talked about that for a while and then he spent 40min or so bitching about [fill in the blank politician; which one doesn't matter].

He got frustrated with me when I kept saying, "I don't give a fuck about [politician]! They're not worth the time or brain space!"

And implicitly: (my god, man, you're the one with even LESS time left yet you're STILL wasting it on this shit that you can't change no matter how angry you get!)

Just so hard to break people out of these nonsense tribal loyalties that they've unknowingly boxed themselves into.

No fever yet as far as I can tell. Just cold symptoms, occasional fatigue, and the back/kidney thing.

Oof, can't tell if sleeping on the AirBnb bed has made my lower back hurt or if it's my kidneys that are mildly aching right now.

100% yes. Way better than a Raspi. More powerful, and most important: has a battery to survive momentary brown outs or longer outages.

Two of my Pis died (I think) because of power issues leading to SD card or ssd corruption.
