Data source: https://github.com/bitcoin-data/stale-blocks
I wrote a script to get UTC time for each blockheight and then plotted monthly stale block counts from historical data. Over the last 6 years (2018-2023), we had an average of just 2.08 stale blocks per month observed in this dataset.
It’s Transparent Index of Distinct Extended Shares (TIDES)
They said that it is similar to PPLNS. Minimal details were shared today but I assume they’ll write and publish more in the coming weeks.
Good to hear - happy to support the work ya’ll are doing 🤙
Will be interesting to see how views counts for your posts change. Seems like recently it’s hardly worth tweeting without a check, a stark difference from 6 months ago.
Is this working right now? I became a Mutiny+ subscriber on 7/13 and haven’t received a request for a second payment yet
This is pretty crazy. I guess using biometrics (e.g. Touch ID) and auto fill is now the safer option for performing an action such as logging in from a public place or coffee shop?
A hill I'm willing to die on:
Commercial seed backup solutions (expensive metal plates) are not only a waste of money, but they're bad at their job
All 24 words for a seed should not be kept in a single location. Safu ninja/DIY solutions are easily adaptable to m-of-n solutions.
To this end: SeedSigner is overhyped and over-recommended. Using off the shelf hardware is great. Encouraging people to keep a QR code of their seed at home is not great.
I don't see where SeedSigner fits into a well architected cold-warm-hot storage system.
I don't like to focus on negative aspects of projects, I'd much rather hype alternatives that get me excited, but in this case I continuously get the impression that people misunderstand the risk/benefit profiles and the record needs to be corrected
We don’t *need* algorithms, but I’m excited for some relays to attempt to introduce new content. It would be great to be introduced to new people and ideas, and if it doesn’t work out I can just remove those relays. Market forces at work!
Listened to most of the first Money Matters podcast while going for a long walk
Lots of great discussion about the benefits of building on open protocols by nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m
While most business is zero sum and adversarial, there’s an analogy about goodwill that I feel explains the positive sum nature of open protocols.

IMO it makes sense to have a 30 second delay in an app like Damus. It’s not slack or IRC which are used for real time communication. Typical usage is much more async, where 30 seconds doesn’t matter. An edge case is handling what happens if a user force closes the app during the delay period…
I think it’s possible but relays would need a way to receive and handle a message to “undo” the like or repost. There’s no guarantee that they’ll honor it, similar to how deletion doesn’t really work as you’re trusting the relay to delete the data.
How does this work? There’s some delay after a tap before the zap actually occurs and during that window you can cancel it? This UX works well for email
Glad to hear! I’ve always been excited for DLCs to be used more widely and for the UX to get polished up.
Would love to have a way to fund dev bounties with a trusted oracle who assesses whether the bounty was met or not. Bounty is met -> funds go to dev. Bounty is not met -> funds return to sender.

I guess the use case with DLCs would be devs who are seeking funding setting up the bounty instead of the funder posting a bounty that anyone can take. It would need to be like https://ccs.getmonero.org/work-in-progress/

#[0] will Q1 have multiple colors at launch or will it start out clear only? Super excited for these to ship out later this year
