I think of myself as an old hillbilly hippie. I've had several careers: Physics, personal counseling, computer science/software development. Unix/Linux. Now I'm an old retired guy. I read a LOT. I think of myself as a liberal progressive politically. Some people know me as KB6QL. I love the Grateful Dead. I love Gracie Slick. I also love the work of Johann Sebastian Bach. I have loved their work for more than 50 years. Oxford comma. Born at 310ppm CO2. Whatever/whatever

Now look here. Whippersnipper, daylight savings time is God's gift to the world. And should remain in place year round. He the advice of your wise old fart friend. In spite of him being an idiot sometimes. πŸ€ͺ

You might find this interesting. It's real time. We're just approaching sunset at the moment. On a good day, Texas will get about 40% of its electricity from renewables. Sometimes a little higher. Other days it's down more like 25% but it's increasing as more and more solar and wind power is brought online. Now the problem is transmission from generation point to use point. And getting Republican politicians to let that happen.

I started that post in order to give you the link, and then forgot to put the link in when I got sidetracked on other crap. Here's the link:

Yeah I sure agree with you. We seem to be doing pretty well with building solar panel farms, at least in Texas interestingly enough. But not so well with rooftop solar. But I think it's coming at least. I think it outside of big cities, electric is much more common than gas for stoves. But there is a growing movement to move heating and cooling to heat pumps. Nobody here in my area has anything except the heat pump.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 That's so dumb. It's far from ideal here, but at least there are incentives and monetary support for building solar panels on roofs. Both for new and existing buildings. Sweden is great at that stuff. We've never used gas in Norway. Everything is mostly electric, including stoves.

They are certainly one of the best. But you have a lot to learn yet. So start visiting the Dead sites, so you can begin your worship. πŸ˜€

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 what's interesting (at least to me) is a lot of what I come up with, using triad, and secondary dominant chords doesn't sound jazzy at all...especially if I play arpeggios with my left hand. Sounds cool tho! πŸ™‚

Sucks it's so hot there...keep cool, and you and Pooh stay hydrated!

Interesting. I sort of remember what you talking about. I had some music theory classes in high school but not since then, and that's been a very long time ago now.

Do you know nostr:npub1r3ksahhqdj7etz34n8l5wpagmcquf79nkfh63frcl95798wr33as6hvlss ? He's a really nice guy and has a master's in music theory. I will bet that you too would have a lot to talk about.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 I've been doing off and on for a while...I did work for an investment bank (Credit Suisse), but hated it...I eventually went to work in the finance dept of a firm that specializes in the green reuse of old, existing buildings. Much better.

nostr:npub1g5jsf09yh3sm6krcehnztxcydzn8hhxk6g39q39c5ttdy8geqazqqk2jxs

Sure sounds like a better fit for you. On the other hand, I never would have paired you with finance. 😁

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Thankfully, we do not😬 We have one venomous snake in Norway, and I could do very well without that one tooπŸ˜• Hope your ankle is back to normal.

nostr:npub13ft3erhfetupawg5trykfkdjps7npam6fa97z3h603xq0c5fwy8qxmq8u2

Oh yeah, it's been fine since about 3 or 4 days afterwards. It didn't last long. Thanks for asking though.

nostr:npub13ft3erhfetupawg5trykfkdjps7npam6fa97z3h603xq0c5fwy8qxmq8u2

You don't have copperhead snakes do you? This is the one who took issue with my ankle a few weeks ago. He was pretty scared by that point having had Pooh dog barking at him for 5 minutes or more.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 I hope the weather has been less hotter than hell, and more a comfortable, if not a tad bit too hot summer day today. The sun showed itself for a while today (second day in a row!), but the fog has come back in now....lately, on the piano, I've just been exploring the minor jazz scales..they're simple, yet can be used to create pretty complex stuff...I like them! πŸ™‚πŸŽΉ

nostr:npub1g5jsf09yh3sm6krcehnztxcydzn8hhxk6g39q39c5ttdy8geqazqqk2jxs

Nope. Just as hot. I like a good hot summer day but not like this. And certainly not this many in a row.

Sounds like you've been having a good time on the piano. I'm glad. I can't wait to see what comes out of this. Jazzy Ratty here we come.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 is there a list of the places the early punk bands played? Way more my style... :blobcatcool: :blobcatcheer: :blobratheart:

I truly believe that even you can learn about the best and develop true class.

nostr:npub17sha6ku2fxgt7k268u5kedl5pn25dqrd6v9eqem7kj3s2248mnfs7x6e06 Yep. There was a huge debate in the UK press about it last winter, because the gas prices were so high and people couldn't afford the heating bills. One of the things mentioned were that they really have to start insulating houses better.

nostr:npub13ft3erhfetupawg5trykfkdjps7npam6fa97z3h603xq0c5fwy8qxmq8u2

My friend is commented several times on how they are still building houses with gas boiler heat instead of using solar and wind. He says that none of the new houses have solar panels on the roofs.
