This post may trigger some people. When it comes to bitcoin, I live by a simple rule: NEVER become a forced seller. Everyone has different circumstances, and I respect that, but to those that are ‘all-in’ - especially the noobs in the space or those with nothing else to fall back on - I am here to let you know that it is in fact possible to be balls deep in bitcoin and call yourself a maxi (or whatever moniker you like) and position yourself for hard times, which are inevitable. You want to be able to survive a long winter. I mean REALLY long. No, fuck that. You want to position yourself for a prolonged war. The kind of war where tax authorities insist you declare your wallet address(es). The kind of war where the government taxes btc sales at 70%. One where you lose your job or a health crisis ensues. Think of the worst possible scenario and then imagine it going on for years. Can you survive that and never sell your bitcoin? In fact, can you survive it AND continue stacking? You don’t need to be a tech nerd for the answer to be yes.

Now let’s run this bitch we call the orange coin all the way to Asgard.

It’s been said before, but many people that are not developers doubt their ability to contribute to the BTC space. If you are reading this, you have a role to play. Here is a short story.

Last month I was at a bar with a live band that had a tip bucket at the front of the stage. They were accepting tips in cash and through Venmo. While they were playing, I whipped up a lightning wallet on my phone. When the singer entered the crowd with the bucket asking for tips, I told her to take my phone that had a lightning QR code on the screen and tell people she was accepting bitcoin. She didn’t receive much, but now she has a wallet to accept bitcoin in the future, and a bucket that will say “WE ACCEPT BITCOIN” at all future performances. And who knows. Maybe she will tell another band to do the same. Who will tell another band. Who will tell another band. Who will…

Small contributions compound. Don’t underestimate what you bring to the table.

For sure. Also good bands. There are so many to list if we’re being honest. I still remember the first time I listened to The Shape of Punk to Come. It was a game changer. Ahead of its time. I feel the same way about Pretty Hate Machine by NIN. If you listen to it now and remind yourself that it came out in 1989 and look at the music that was big then, it gives you perspective. There are some younger bands I like too. Rotting Out is one. Comeback Kid also (though i wouldn’t call them ‘young’). Hardcore is alive and well.

That’s incredible. Good for you. The energy of a show like that is something to behold.
