Not a bad year, but lots of hungry rabbits and rampaging deer. Tomatoes are disappointing, too. Win some, lose some. #garden

I started it indoors this time, but I wasn’t expecting the flowers to be so exquisite.

Rebuilt two raised beds, and started new plots for potatoes.

Here’s my first ground cherry of the year. Doesn’t look too happy right now.

Thanks to nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll and nostr:npub15879mltlln6k8jy32k6xvagmtqx3zhsndchcey8gjyectwldk88sq5kv0n I’ve been running this for a while now, and I’m blown away at how easy it becomes to learn the technical intricacies and outright grandeur of hard money. Thanks for all you’ve done, for every last vestige of freedom we can preserve.

Looking bucolic. Nothing but possibilities. #grownostr #garden

It is chemical free, as best as I can manage. Several years ago, when I was starting to learn, I panicked and sprinkled on some Sevin dust in a couple of my raised beds. Big mistake, and totally unnecessary. Now I mainly spray with neem and kaolin clay, and I’ve also been using black pepper and diatomaceous earth as extra defenses.
A lot of my effort still just feeds the deer and rabbits. But such is life. Learning to garden is like studying entropy: the more you know, the less you know.
First time growing okra. I had no idea how beautiful these flowers are.

This is Toby. She’s a small, yet very diligent contributor to our compost pile.

I’m excited for my biggest garden ever, and first year test driving my new swales. Started fruit trees, elderberries and blueberries, too. I also got: squash, zucchini, asparagus, vine peach, cucumber, snake beans, lazy housewife beans, bitter melon, okra, corn, kale, chard, mustard greens, watermelon radish, beets, potatoes, Amish deer lettuce, arugula, spinach, onions, garlic, ground cherry, dill, leeks, fennel.
Still need to put out daikon radish seeds. And I got tomatoes, peppers, huckleberry, alpine strawberry and shallots going inside.
