If you like them. It’s purely an aesthetic thing. This a good one https://github.com/tonsky/FiraCode

I think it’s much more likely that through facebooks experiments with activitypub I’ll bridge through from nostr to go ask grandpa questions about his hobbies that he has a disposable income and the life experience to be an expert in while he sits around awaiting the next set of baby photos… could never convince them to move to discord let alone here.
it looks like the idea is op threads aren’t in groups or curated but you can follow op threads which is Reddit reminder bot like
yeah there definitely is some benefit already from anyone being able to create a group… if you start a similar group and one relay denies you, another relay is happy to host, and thusly there isn’t a company admin or company mod saying you can have that group at all here.
That idea of just using op threads outside of a group isn’t a bad one. I don’t see downvotes in replies either, which is nice.
If it’s all kind one, this could turn into a super hell thread quickly in standard clients, but that’s not related to the idea of reddit style mods is bad.
maybe the solution is to curate a feed from those op threads… and if you want a simplex or even discord group for real time chat you could just put that in a bio.
a lot of people talking about reddit on nostr…
maybe a moderator should really only be a curator… (like the nostr band curated feeds) but we do need better interfaces for curators to go collect posts and make custom feeds of those posts.
do we want to pair that with an invite only channel for a discord like experience? I’m not sure that’s a good thing either.
Still conflicted because of the value I get from a handful of Facebook groups and discords with respective experts who are satisfied with using those tools for just that. I avoid the political or social aspects of these platforms entirely because of this conflict.

From your most recent note… how is this different than having a signing extension just trust and remember your preference to trust a client entirely?
the ux is only demoed this way because I want want to be used to approving each request by hand. And most want evidence this granularity is possible. if you wanted to say I trust x client fully, you can. it would feel no different if it had a delegated key, you set it up once and you logged in already each time you revisit.
I like to demo all the new clients, this way lets me do that and not think about it later, can just forget about it. I also like to look at what I’m putting my signature on, as application specific data can change or increase, over time.
"NFTs on nostr"
There was a thread about NFT on nostr the other day which got much hate and yeah, I think it was a meme token for the lulz that didn't solve any problem but I think the topic is worth exploring on nostr.
My hypothesis is that ERC20 and later standards were "successful" because they standardized certification in an ecosystem that already had cryptographic identities and tools to securely store keys.
Most applications of ERC20 would have been better without a blockchain and almost all tokens gained little from being all mashed together on the same blockchain.
On nostr, many are allergic to tokenomics and all that shitcoin BS but ... we have "badges". Not all love them and we certainly don't give them much weight yet but it is already a kind of certificate with an issuer and a recipient, leveraging identities on nostr. There is no badge I know of that would raise eye-brows but in their essence, badges are as of now non-transferable NFTs. An artist could issue them and sell attribution with the promise of only selling 20 attributions. Violating this limit would be possible and nostr would not always allow to proof which ones are the first 20 but you could proof that the issuer over-issued given the signed events.
And we could make these badges transferable in a way that would be good enough for many token applications where the issuer would act as a central authority. nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n just now gave away some hardware-wallet-tokens that are worth one of their devices in their store but as nostr-badge-like events it could work, too. Their store could allow the owner to buy a badge for another nostrich with it. Boom. Transferable.
I sold this badge to the highest bider and gave the profits to those who who wrote the badge nip and made badges. Those who bid also got a different badge. Went over the heads of most the bitifluencers who were unwilling to see it as a creative way of asking some of the questions you are asking now.
I’ve never owned or minted an nft.
here’s the signing screen so you can look at the full json of what it is you’re signing

this is what’s it’s like if you only perm it for a day and turning it back on… the App Store page has nice images of the settings pages. Even has a event history so I’d you did decide to let a client sign what ever it wanted, you could go view what it was doing (like primal that constantly sends app specific data). I prefer to approve each event and let it time out after a day.
the only drawback I have (which is apples fault, not nostores) is safari mobile extensions don’t work in web apps, my work around is I create shortcuts instead of web apps, this way it opens in safari.
