nostr:npub1f50fesq265tu0nfnq2sx8770lq9uuwylgv67rn9ye2p0rxuvnzrq7sjp0r I started learning Welsh (for ancestry reasons), German (for ancestry and work reasons) and Latin (for curiosity and work reasons) in lockdown. I’ve kept going with German but was thinking about giving Scottish Gaelic (for “because I can” reasons) a go at some point!
nostr:npub1k6hs8ly9yftxmvdj04z5fcus684nydgn7t8hqkw7ncwlkdaxzcsq8e0wx7 I think it was a source of grievance to my mother that I was making more an effort to learn Welsh and Russian (for fun) than maintaining my use of French, my actual mother tongue 😂 nowadays I’m doing no languages though and I think this is unacceptable 🙄
My sister is in Wales this weekend so I am taking great delight in teaching her how to pronounce (or butcher) place names. Pre-pandemic I’d started learning Welsh for work (well, for fun, but so that I could show respect to Welsh speakers at work), but when the lockdown started I stopped my lessons and never resumed. Now I’m in a different job, and Wales is less of a priority. In fact Scottish Gaelic is now more of a priority, but it hasn’t aroused my interest like Welsh does.
This might be the most terrible thing I’ve ever seen on the internet. And I’ve been terminally online for over 2 decades so that’s saying a lot. I think if I knew someone who ate pizza like this we could not be friends.
