I do the same. I buy bigger things with my ln node wallet behind TOR and I recharge my WoS and Alby with it. To do all the fun interactive things I have to use custodial for now ... Atleast I fell like that.
Own node over TOR is just too slow for a good experience. That's the hard truth. #[1]
