If lightning can't survive being censored, it's not censorship resistant and thus not useful.

Let's be honest, codes of conduct are bullshit. Maintainers do what they want and ban who they want and that's fine. We too can always fork off if we don't like it.

Maybe doesn't need mass adoption to be useful but it needs more than it has, and more discovery tools / community tools.

Please tell me of a good client. I've used around 15 and I fucking hate email.

I worked for the state once. I was in the Air Force.

In 2012, They took my appendix when they didn't need to.

In 2016, they vaccine injured me with a round of shots my doc recommended. I got a letter in the mail saying it was a bad batch, but it was completely safe and I should come get another round. Nah, doc.

I got automimmune issues from that, and they worsened from the poisoned food. I left the military in 2017. The VA ignored me repeatedly because they don't believe in vaccine injuries.

I can't eat gluten, dairy, rice, or seed oils without heart palpitations and reactions that feel like im dying these days

Anyways, I began contracting for that same Air Force again in 2018. They tried to poke everyone again in 2020. I said no and I lost my job from saying no in December 2021. I haven't worked in 2.5 years.

This whole time I've been spending $900-1200 cuckbucks a month on meat and fruit alone to avoid inflammation and heal my body. All from my savings. I sold my house in late 2022 and my stack is down immensely in the last two years.

They poisoned me... They poisoned 19 out of 20 aisles of the grocery store for an autoimmune person like me. They poisoned my health. They've drained my wealth. They've taken my livelihood and my normalcy.

When I view the big picture, it all seems so deeply personal. They wanna ban and control meat consumption when it is my only food... They want to stop us from saving in Bitcoin when it has been my literal saving grace... They say they want to close the "escape hatches".

When I tell you that this is the hill I will die on, I fucking mean it. There is no choice for me anymore. I've crossed the Rubicon. I will live free or die.

I strongly suggest you look into carnivore diet for autoimmune issues. Steak and Butter Gal https://www.youtube.com/@SteakandButterGal is a good place to start.

Been hitting random buttons trying to do this for years 😅😅

Did Bitcoin mining change forever yesterday 🤔

Hey nostr:npub1zmc6qyqdfnllhnzzxr5wpepfpnzcf8q6m3jdveflmgruqvd3qa9sjv7f60 l, @npub1lh273a4wpkup00stw8dzqjvvrqrfdrv2v3v4t8pynuezlfe5vjnsnaa9nk, and @npub1wnlu28xrq9gv77dkevck6ws4euej4v568rlvn66gf2c428tdrptqq3n3wr, I watched the announcement yesterday but came away with a lot of unanswered questions that I'll detail below. I would legitimately love to hear the answers to these if at all possible!

How is Ocean non-custodial for the average miner?

On the stream it was mentioned that payout thresholds are 0.0108 BTC (but nostr:npub1wnlu28xrq9gv77dkevck6ws4euej4v568rlvn66gf2c428tdrptqq3n3wr was unsure), a number that would take a pleb miner with an S9 ~470d to reach.

Until he reaches that payout point, all of his mined sats seem to be entirely custodied by Ocean.

How does Ocean decentralize mining today?

I was so excited by the teases and pre-announcements for Ocean as it sounded like exactly what I wanted in a Bitcoin pool. Unfortunately, it sounds like all of the decentralization possible is yet to be release, including StratumV2 and any ability for miners to submit block templates themselves.

Did I miss anything that makes Ocean more decentralized than other pools today?

Why is Ocean not open source?

If Ocean is as revolutionary and decentralizing as it's being made out to be, wouldn't the best thing for Bitcoin be that all pools switch over time to the same mode?

If so, why isn't Ocean open-sourcing any of it's protocol or code? In the announcement it seemed that nostr:npub1wnlu28xrq9gv77dkevck6ws4euej4v568rlvn66gf2c428tdrptqq3n3wr was bragging that no competitor would be able to "reproduce" their lead dev's code, thus keeping their competitive edge.

There was no mention to my knowledge of open source, but it's possible I missed it!

What guarantee do miners have that you won't censor transactions?

As miners cannot submit their own block templates right now and the source is not open code, miners have to rely on manually checking a visual block template on your site to find censorship.

nostr:npub1lh273a4wpkup00stw8dzqjvvrqrfdrv2v3v4t8pynuezlfe5vjnsnaa9nk has a history of censoring what he viewed as "spam," and there was a lot of time spent in the conference talking about how bad Ordinals are and how bad pools are that mine them.

What guarantees or promises do miners have that you won't censor transactions you don't like?

How will Ocean handle regulatory pressure to enact KYC?

In the event that regulators of the Feds come knocking and want you to implement KYC (as seems to be the case with other pools), what will you do?

What will Ocean's fee model be after the 0% period?

There was a lot of talk about how most pools subsidize larger miners and charge exhorbitant fees to smaller miners during the conference. One thing that wasn't ever mentioned was what Ocean's fee policy will be after the 2mo 0% fee period.

Could you explain how the fee model will work?

Conclusion

That's enough questions for now, I think, but I look forward to getting answers to these! We have a desperate need for decentralized mining in Bitcoin and a massive gap today.

I look forward to hearing back 🙂

Yeah, kinda weird that there's so much hype about it when there's basically 0 technical info out there. Hope it's legit.

For a nation of dignified, free citizens to exist, it is not enough for that nation to have a collective force over which a majority of citizens wield theoretical soft power (democracy). The individuals and families that make up society must also directly wield practical hard power themselves.

This means some meaningful portion of families must have physical possession of their own energy, weapons, transportation, land, and more.

But today this also means free citizens must have genuine ownership of all their computers, including all embedded devices, as without that, physical possession no longer necessarily means true ownership.

If the free citizens of the nation can't be trusted with this hard power, then a culture compatible with liberalism has already been defeated and the people will never have freedom, dignity, or genuine rights of any kind until a culture compatible with these things is restored.

Pro/Con of “Privacy” Phone Numbers/Services

JMP.chat

Type: Number

Pro: No KYC VoIP to XMPP (or Matrix) for anonymous Bitcoin, so you're using an open source client

Con: Only US and Canada numbers. They're just reselling Twillio VoIP, which means that not only are you just paying more just for anonymity, but many services recognize these as Twillio VoIP numbers and will block you.

Solutions: There exists the possibility of buying a real world physical SIM and then transferring over service to JMP VoIP. But you’re better off using 1 time burner services for most account registry.

Hushed

Type: Number

Pro: No KYC VoIP for Bitcoin, similar to JMP.chat

Con: Uses their proprietary client which isn’t private through the Google Play store. I’d avoid Hushed.

Silent Link

Type: Number + Service

Pro: No KYC Crypto SIM card that separates billing and identity from the literal cell tower carrier

Con: Uses eSIM which requires Graphene’s Google Push service sandboxed. No outgoing calls.

Calyx Institute Hotspots

Type: Service

Pro: No KYC WiFi hotspot for Crypto

Con: It’s just reselling T-mobile service, so if you use this in your home and your home is KYC, then T-mobile will likely figure out that it’s you since celltowers see geolocation.

Solutions: You can avoid this by putting the hotspot in a faraday bag, and only using it outside your home.

MySudo

Type: Number

Pro: Multiple burner VoIP lines

Con: Requires Google Play store JUST to PAY for it, but then can be used on a degoogled phone once you add credit.

Solutions: This can be sandboxed or put on a separate old device and you can use bitrefill to buy the credits with cryptocurrency

SMS.usmobilenumbers.com

Type: Number

Pro: Quick easy cheap burner anonymous SMS verification for cryptocurrency. It’s real SIMs and not VoIP.

Con: US only. They resell the number for OTHER services, which MAY trigger anti-fraud for SOME services including Zelle, eBay, PayPal, LinkedIn, and others. So you risk a ban on accounts.

Solutions: Avoid putting money in any account for a few days to see. Use a residential proxy IP instead of a datacenter VPN, especially for eBay.

VirtualSim.net

Type: Number

Pro: Great for abusing foreign numbers in poor countries such as Cambodia or Ukraine for Signal or Telegram. Quick easy cheap burner anonymous SMS verification and/or longer term monthly numbers for cryptocurrency. It’s real SIMs and not VoIP. Their customer support is excellent and we highly recommend them for Telegram verifications.

Con: They may loose access to the burner number after a period of time (like a year) where you can’t renew and someone else COULD potentially verify the number.

Crypton.sh

Type: Number

Pro: Huge amount of countries for real SMS anonymous crypto. Get sought after Western European #s here that normally have strict KYC rules on physical SIMs

Con: Overpriced setup fee for 1 time SMS verification, but if you actually live in (or desire) that country it’s okay. There’s no real purpose in all their “at rest encryption” advertising, because SMS is unencrypted transport.

jmp works really well. Highly recommended.

Privacy is the default natural state of the world, it is not an admission of guilt. Intentionally maintaining that privacy is in no way an admission of wrongdoing. Presumption of guilt, with the requirement to provide evidence of innocence, is a guaranteed way to destroy a free society.

Don't give in to the "what do you have to hide" narrative. The answer is "none of your fucking business".
