Labor is transactional. And you’ve gotta think about the value of that transaction.
Buying a new phone every year is just 1/100th (but probably more) of the value being exchanged when you work at Apple. It’s not even a close comparison.
I don’t feel great lately about buying a new computer or phone from Apple. That exchange is about $1000 or so a year. And that’s a lot.
But I would feel much worse if the my labor working for Apple was valued at six figures a year. I don’t know how you can reconcile that.
It sucks, but like.
I understand this is a tough dilemma, but if you’re financially comfortable and you continue to do labor for companies that are making the shittiest decisions, I don’t know what the fuck you’re doing.

Is it actually possible to use social media to share feelings and not be judged for them? To express unhappiness or something unpleasant? Is it alright to express yourself publicly in a venue where you subject yourself to the world like that?

Tbh every mastodon app I’ve just downloaded has some pretty god awful UI decisions. Not sure where to go from here.
I think the same thing happened to email too. It all used to be unserious. But now, I get all sorts of official and important communication through email, like about my taxes or doctor appointments. So now all the things that don't seem as important as those just end up getting ignored.
Anyone else feel this way? Just me?
