If I am being honest, what bothers me most about the Nazi era of Germany is not the idea that a failed, homeless artist with a meth addiction would become a tyrannical, murderous dictator, but that the Nazis are represented as a fringe movement supported by fringe people.

This is an absolute lie.

And it is intentional.

Because the truth is even more disturbing. If we face the reality that the Nazi Party was main stream popular culture in Germany (and even in much of the west at the time), we have to face some very disturbing things about ourselves. If we cant blame it on a "fringe leader" with a "fringe group", then we have to ask ourselves, "could I become a Nazi if the conditions were right?"

So let me spoil it for you...

The answer is yes.

Statistically, chances are, you would have been one of the people out there waving a little Nazi flag yourself. And telling yourself, "just dont get involved, its none of your business" when you saw the injustice starting to manifest.

Have you ever noticed most of the photos of Nazis focus on Hitler, and NOT the massive adoring crowds? Have you ever wondered why? Its because we want to forget. It terrifies us. And it should.

So here are some photos of what things really looked like. Of how easy it is to get swept up in the movement. Think about it. Think how much easier your life would have been if you just went along with the crowd. And how much harder it would be to stand against it.

Away in a manger

On my walk earlier today I noticed some "berries" on an eastern red cedar. The "berries" are not actually berries, but tiny pine cones. And the eastern red cedar, which we have all over our property, is not a cedar at all, but a type of juniper. But most people refer to them as cedar trees, at least around here. Hi nostr, time to call it a day and get find something good to eat. We thought about going out to dinner, but decided to just fix something here and find a movie to watch. I got 2 batches of soap all packaged up, and there's one more batch that'll be ready in a few days. I just learned that the newest Amethyst update integrates Shopstr, so I might try that out and list my soaps. I'll be having lemongrass, lavender, and eucalyptus bars available and listed, soon I think. I also make comfrey salve and THE best lip balm. I might offer sets with one of each, we'll see. Up until now I only sell to guests at the bnb cabin, and to locals who know that I make these products, so I'll see how it goes.

The guy that's helping us with the water meter hookup had to postpone till tomorrow, so that's still pending. Its gonna take quite a bit of trenching.

But we're doing well and keeping plenty busy around here. I'm almost done with this round of tree watering, tomorrow it should be done. So yall have a good evening nostr friends. Hi nostr, doing my evening check in. Oh it was such nice weather today, and I made it a point to be outside most of the day. I noticed one of our peafowl has started to fan his or her tail feathers, that was neat to watch. And this evening we saw an owl perched atop a tree nearby, probably looking at the pigeons and thinking about catching one.

I'm on a Telegram group of local folks that live in my area, and we started discussing having regular meetings to talk about current events and how we would communicate with each other in the case of a cyber attack. One of the guys said he could do a class on ham radio since he has lots of experience with that. I think we should all try to forge relationships with locals, and find out who grows food, who raises livestock, who knows different building trades, etc. This might become increasingly important.
