A redeemed 🙏 and insatiably curious woman on the home front 🏡 Author and clinical herbalist in the PNW 🌲

I'm excited about the community I have on Substack and the work I'm doing there. Feel free to join us if it's a good fit. We're mostly Christian women with our faces to the Son and our feet on the ground, operating from our own home fronts to rebuild a firm foundation for future generations🏡

I'm also excited to be here on Nostr. What a great community here, I love the interaction and the chill nature of it. Like we all KNOW how bad it is (that in itself is an oddity), but no one here is just laying over dead. Plant the gardens, make houses, grow up the children and keep your eyes on Jesus.

Would love to see this happen where we are

Found an old art journaling calendar book that I kept up with for the year, maybe ten years back or so. I just bought myself a new planner for the year so I can do it again this year. It's just a place to doodle, make lists, keep quotes, and such. If I don't make time to do something that looks pointless, I become too much like a machine, with too many boxes to check that never grow less. I enjoy listening to the net on my HAM, so I think it will be relaxing to combine the two (journaling and listening). I know the world is crazy (when has it not been) and we (at least, I) have a lot to do but methinks it's also good to take time to do a puzzle, bake cookies, read poetry, take a nap.

If I am being honest, what bothers me most about the Nazi era of Germany is not the idea that a failed, homeless artist with a meth addiction would become a tyrannical, murderous dictator, but that the Nazis are represented as a fringe movement supported by fringe people.

This is an absolute lie.

And it is intentional.

Because the truth is even more disturbing. If we face the reality that the Nazi Party was main stream popular culture in Germany (and even in much of the west at the time), we have to face some very disturbing things about ourselves. If we cant blame it on a "fringe leader" with a "fringe group", then we have to ask ourselves, "could I become a Nazi if the conditions were right?"

So let me spoil it for you...

The answer is yes.

Statistically, chances are, you would have been one of the people out there waving a little Nazi flag yourself. And telling yourself, "just dont get involved, its none of your business" when you saw the injustice starting to manifest.

Have you ever noticed most of the photos of Nazis focus on Hitler, and NOT the massive adoring crowds? Have you ever wondered why? Its because we want to forget. It terrifies us. And it should.

So here are some photos of what things really looked like. Of how easy it is to get swept up in the movement. Think about it. Think how much easier your life would have been if you just went along with the crowd. And how much harder it would be to stand against it.

And if you think this post in unnecessary and melodramatic, perhaps you are unaware of where we are.

Sobering and sad, all true

Sausage cheddar cream cheese muffins for breakfast this morning.

I was interviewed early today for another YouTube interview regarding homeschooling. It was an interesting conversation which also touched on the roles of Christian teachers in the public schools, how to avoid division in the local church over educational choices, and how to get started homeschooling (hint: if you're a parent, you've already *been* homeschooling since the birth of your child/ren).

It's due to publish on Jan 3; I'll link here when it does.

Btw, this will be the only social media I'm on now. I said my goodbyes on IG so now y'all are just stuck with me 😜

We hosted our annual gingerbread decorating contest and the theme this year was "a Christmas song". Can you guess what the songs were? The kids did an amazing job on them all!

Hi nostr, time to call it a day and get find something good to eat. We thought about going out to dinner, but decided to just fix something here and find a movie to watch. I got 2 batches of soap all packaged up, and there's one more batch that'll be ready in a few days. I just learned that the newest Amethyst update integrates Shopstr, so I might try that out and list my soaps. I'll be having lemongrass, lavender, and eucalyptus bars available and listed, soon I think. I also make comfrey salve and THE best lip balm. I might offer sets with one of each, we'll see. Up until now I only sell to guests at the bnb cabin, and to locals who know that I make these products, so I'll see how it goes.

The guy that's helping us with the water meter hookup had to postpone till tomorrow, so that's still pending. Its gonna take quite a bit of trenching.

But we're doing well and keeping plenty busy around here. I'm almost done with this round of tree watering, tomorrow it should be done. So yall have a good evening nostr friends. Thank yall for being a part of this community and sharing bits of your life. Nostr is the best! #grownostr #homemadesoap #countrylife #homesteading

I need to learn more about Shopstr!

The only member of my family interested in the puzzle I brought out...

Taking it easy today; I actually threw a Durolog into my living room fireplace so I could snuggle in and not get up. I'm thinking a lot about what I use my smartphone for and now to do else-wise. Like my camera, which I use quite a bit. Most of what I do, I could do on my desktop (and then zap!). My friend in Mexico is tech free 6 days a week--she only gets her email and whatnot when she goes to town once a week. I'm intrigued. Perhaps with the extra mental space I could make even more plant medicine, write more essays, and free up my brain energy to do something more useful. I'm not on my phone all day, but even when I'm not, it's always there like my shadow, inviting me (demanding me?) to keep up or scroll a while, all the while (as I've recently been learning) listening in on my conversations or tracking where I go and what I shop for.

It's time to break up. I'm just staring that this fake fire trying to figure out how to do that while minimizing the pain of it, especially from others who depend upon me to use it.

So I was talking on my cell today about something and that something was reflected on the first ad I got on IG. I am so done.

Questions:

Is getting off IG enough?

Does an Above Phone solve this?

Or do I need a cell At All.

Back to my blackberry pie now...

At the DOL today taking care of business (brought my knitting in case Sloth was running the desk), and contemplated finally getting a passport. Not fully understanding why that is done at the post office 🤷‍♀️ but very tempted to accept the invite to visit from a friend in Mexico. She tells me it's slower paced where she is. I'd love to live in a community of Slower Paced 🤔
