Getting fresh sourdough bread out of the oven will never grow old. This is a German rye. I would love to expand and bake a dozen loaves at a time, preferably in a wood fired oven.
My YiaYia would bake her bread in the outdoor oven, the only oven she had other than the Dutch one she used in her open fireplace inside. Swipe for the photo of me with my brother, helping her with the baking. I miss her.
I should do it, right? Build the oven?

So right on
GM. At least for another half hour. This is when I get to take a breath, make a hot drink, and reboot. I hope you all have a good day and remember to take time out as well.
Elevated hot cocao:
1 TB cocao powder (dissolve ina touch of water first) or
2oz chocolate (today I mixed dark and semisweet, but white chocolate is also good)
Per 1 cup whole raw milk
Honey or unrefined sugar to taste
Addition possibilities:
Coffee (my mug is 1/2 coffee here)
Mushroom powder
Collagen
Unflavored gelatin
Coconut oil
Raw egg yolk (from a trusted local source, not the grocers)
Brandy or other liquor
Seasoning possibilities:
Vanilla
Peppermint (I use a drop of essential oil)
Cinnamon-cardamom-cloves-nutmeg-pinch of chilies
Topping:
Fresh whipped cream
Sprinkles (if you miss being a 9yo)
What do you put in your hot cocao? That's it for my carb load today!
Is this conference newbie friendly or would people like me be in wayyyy over our heads?
Happy St. Nicholas Day.
Thanks for the recommendation. I've read mostly ww2 but I'm open to other eras.
https://open.substack.com/pub/asourdoughstory?r=1d4yyq&utm_medium=ios has wonderful recipes and is enjoyable to read as well
I baked a sourdough oat bread today. It was pretty good with my eggs and veggies. But the Purple Dragon Kimchi I finished today is amazing! The color, texture, and flavor is *mwah*. Of course, laundry and homeschooling and cleaning and whatnot.
Probably the best thing I did today, though, was start a new notebook for the year. On the first page, I listed all of the things I still want to do (that page is ridiculously full).
On page two I listed my core values and the character traits I want to cultivate more (which, perhaps not ironically, have a lot to do with remembering my core values).
Page three: lists of clutter to clear (physical, mental...) and reasonable first steps to take towards those page one goals. Because every goal I ever hit is little by little (did I mention all the laundry and homeschooling and "whatnot"?)
It was a whole lot of physical and mental work today. I'm tired.
Tomorrow if I may I think I'll go to my local bookshop and find a new novel or two to disappear into for the winter. I like historical fiction...any recommendations?

I was at Home Depot today looking at appliances. Later, I scrolled IG and waddayaknow an ad for HD appliances is front and center.
Question: does getting an Above Phone remove this creepy feature? Anyone use one and are you happy with it?
Pls don't tell me to get off IG. I know already. Working on it.
Thanks! And here I thought ash was good for the garden.
