I really enjoyed this read and your commentary afterwards.
I've been thinking a lot recently about the binary political system here in the US and the perverse incentives it promotes.
Our political system incentivizes polarity and division at its core. The only way to build your following as a party is to demonize the other, and embrace the far fringes on your political side as this is far easier than actually attempting to reach across the proverbial or literal aisle.
It is as though at the core of our society there is a pervasive and powerful force of division that splits us apart from each other. Like gravity pulls all things towards centers of mass over time, this force drives us apart with time.
And the worst part, our systems can't seem to overcome this internal force.
We can only unite when an outside force drives us to realize that we have more in common than we have apart. It could be war, economic peril, disease, or natural disaster, but some powerful external force is always needed to pull us from the event horizon of what divides us.
While I have no concrete thoughts yet on how we fix this yet, it's something that's been on my mind.
Bitcoin gives me hope as a system that exists outside our political divisions, offering the same hope of individual monetary sovereignty to all who would embrace it.
I don't know what the future holds, I belive things get worse before they improve, but I have hope.

I like to think I'm pretty observant, but I didn't realize Amethyst has this feature until I read this...
Consolidation isn't about only having a single utxo.
It's about having a variety of responsibly sized utxos that you can choose to spend for different needs and in different fee environments.
For the layperson, the main goal of those of us who condone utxo management is educating newbies so they can ensure they keep their utxos above the dust limit.
DCA is great, but not if you end up with a bag full of utxos so small that they are uneconomic. This is the value of responsible consolidation.
Check this out. I haven't come across another password manager with a security model like this: https://1passwordstatic.com/files/security/1password-white-paper.pdf
I love 1Password and have been using them for a few years now. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.
I also recommend Bitwarden as a secondary service.
If my login information is breached, I'm protected by my 2FA codes.
If my 2FA codes are breached, my login information are still safe.
2FA is meant to provide extra security. This is pointless if your login info and 2FA info are in the same place.
Using the same password manager for passwords and 2FA should be illegal. If you do this, you're gonna get fucked.

Converting my historical wages to sats, and seeing it fall exponentially did more for me than looking at a price chart.
Bitcoin denominated wages down 85% in the last 4 years alone. Really puts things in perspective.
The average person will never see their wages meaningfully grow in bitcoin terms over time.
You are in a position to accumulate bitcoin today that you will long for in 4 years.

I see so many posts lately about spam, narrowing down relay selections, etc.
I have 30 relays added, and somehow encounter zero spam...
I guess I'll consider myself fortunate...

I'd hadn't read through the entire thread, and misinterpreted your comment as saying that more competition on scaling should take place in 192 months.
I went back and got caught up.

I blocked a few of them the first few days, and added "wss" to my hidden terms.
Haven't seen a reply guy in over a week now.
