It’s zucchini. I have no female blooms yet.
Brunch salad. This is about 50/50 homegrown and store bought. The eggs, chard, kale, spinach, zucchini flower, and peas were grown here. The tuna, dressing, tomatoes, and carrots are store bought.

Doing chores early today because we are headed to Strong Roots Resources today and Tactical wanted to hit church on the way.
Contemplating the tomato wall system today. We are building the last one to shield my house from summer sun next Sunday afternoon. We decided to do an open house/potluck for anyone who wants to see how this is done.
The weird thing? This is a hydroponic system. I tossed compost tea in there 4 weeks ago along with Texas Tomato Food. Since that time these plants have gone from babies to almost as tall as my house AND I have added water but no more fertilizer. The nutrient count keeps going up. The plants look healthy. It has turned into a great experiment. What did I trigger and how did I trigger it??
Anyway the new wall will have a worm bin integrated and I'll see if we can go 100% compost tea and worm casting tea.

Good morning all y’all! A break in the rain gave me time to do a couple small things. Ran some twine for the peas. My trellis isn’t quite tall enough. Pulled weeds back from trombochino and luffa. Pulled some suckers from tomatoes. Moved those tropical plants he brought home to the front porch. They are actually Blood banana, Begonia, Plumeria, Upright elephant ear, Silver vase.

I want to remind everyone that the United States would not be the free nation it is today without the ultimate sacrifices of the men, and women of our armed forces.
In February 1918, my maternal grandfather Everett Mullins joined the U.S. Army Marine Corps at age 22. Following a shortened basic training program on Parris Island, he departed for France, arriving in June. His brother Howard joined the U.S Army Infantry around the same time and trained at then Camp Logan, in Houston Texas, also sent to France.
My grandfather saw battle in July that year at Parcy-Tigny, France, then spent considerable time in field hospitals due to influenza, lung infections, and shell-shock. Howard was killed-in-action during the battle of the Meuse-Argonne, France, on October 9, 1918.
Memorial Day is a day to honor those who did not make it home. Those who fell in battle, or shortly after. Those whose bones may have been buried on foreign soil. Before we light the grills, put the boats in water, attend festivals or parties, please take a few minutes to thank God for sending those men and women who were willing to step up and protect, not only us, but other nations under siege.
